2015 Scion FR-S review

1. Stylish coupe body 

Part of the appeal of any great sports car is its looks, and the 2015 FR-S more than delivers in this department. It’s got classic sports coupe styling, from the angular headlamps to the long nose and the sloping fastback roofline. Couple this with a selection of seven eye-catching exterior color options — like Ultramarine, Firestorm, and Hot Lava — and you have a car that will effortlessly turn heads as you drive past. 

2. Dynamic handling and thrills aplenty 

The 2015 FR-S is great to look at on the outside, but once you get behind the wheel, you’ll quickly find out it’s equally as exciting to drive as well. The rear-wheel-drive setup combines sharp and agile steering, as well as sports-tuned suspension and disc brakes, to provide an exciting driving experience whenever the mood takes you. Additionally, extra TRD^® performance parts are available to enhance the handling further, including lowered springs and a sway bar kit.  

3. Fuel-sipping performance from compact engine 

Under the hood of every 2015 FR-S is a 2.0L horizontally opposed "boxer" four-cylinder engine, ideally balanced to provide ample performance while remaining kind to your wallet. Producing 200 horsepower and paired to a six-speed manual transmission as standard, put your foot down away from the lights and you’ll go from zero to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds. Despite this, though, you’ll still be able to achieve an EPA-estimated 24 mpg combined and 29 mpg on the highway.

4. Roomy front seats 

Despite being a compact and sleek sports coupe, the 2015 FR-S still offers an impressively roomy interior. There’s seating for up to four passengers, with front seat occupants getting an impressive 41.9 inches of legroom to stretch out into, while rear seat occupants get 29.9 inches of legroom. With standard creature comforts including air conditioning, cruise control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, lengthy road trips are a breeze in this car.

With just one trim level on offer, the 2015 FR-S has an impressive stack of features and equipment available as standard. If you like your tech and in-car entertainment, you’ll love the eight-speaker sound system with a 6.1-inch touchscreen display and USB/iPod^® integration, as well as Bluetooth^® connectivity.
