2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid review

1. Smooth, comfortable rides for daily commutes 

If you are looking for a hybrid vehicle for daily driving and prioritize comfort and curb appeal over horsepower and tight handling, the 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid is an excellent choice. Its cabin is similar to that of the 2024 Corolla sedan. Yet 8.1 inches of ground clearance, offers you and your passengers an excellent view of traffic and other vistas along the way. Combined with its smooth ride, this is a practical vehicle you'll be happy to drive every day.  

2. Many driver assist options 

Front and rear parking assist with automatic braking make parking easy and reversing out even easier with available rear-facing cameras. The system warns you visually when it detects stationary objects, or vehicles approaching from the rear. If the system identifies the risk of pending contact with a detected obstacle or vehicle, it will reduce engine power and/or apply the brakes. 

3. A well-horsed engine  

The standard hybrid engine in the 2024 Corolla Cross lineup is a Hybrid 2.0L four-cylinder engine with 169 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. It is more powerful than comparable models in its class from Honda, Buick and Kia. Standard on-demand all-wheel drive and a sport-tuned suspension will give you confidence behind the wheel, without sacrificing a fun, responsive ride. The Corolla Cross has a 10-speed CVT automatic transmission, while in-class competitors offer fewer speed control options.

Bluetooth^® mobile device integration enables you to take full advantage of Apple CarPlay^®, Amazon Alexa^®, Android Auto^™ and SiriusXM^® radio connectivity. through the Corolla Cross' eight-inch multimedia touchscreen and optional JBL audio system. The optional JBL premium sound system provides the clearest sound and stronger bass if that is what moves you. You will have to use your mobile device's navigation system, as Toyota doesn't offer a native one on their infotainment system. Many car buyers do that instinctively anyway.  

5. A practical crossover with places for all your essentials 

The 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated combined 42 mpg, meaning you can go the distance on your next road trip without the need for frequent gas-station stops.

If you opt for the Corolla Cross Hybrid, you will sacrifice just under four cu-ft of storage space (21.5 cu-ft vs 25 cu-ft); however, there are several storage holders for small items like cupholders and places for your phone and wallet.
