5 reasons to buy the 2022 Toyota Supra
1. Motorsport roots
The 2022 Toyota GR Supra is part of the fifth generation (2020-present) of this thrilling sports car. Toyota wanted to make a racing-inspired car that was accessible to the everyday driver, so it brought in motorsport DNA from Toyota Gazoo Racing, which is where the “GR" comes from. This means it's been tested on track and has a wealth of performance features to help it live up to its name. If you love motorsport, this is one to take for a test drive.
2. Performance credentials
Those motorsport roots are backed up by two great engine options. The base 2.0 model has a 2.0L four-cylinder turbo that's good for 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. If you're after more, the 3.0 trims feature a mighty 382-hp 3.0L six-cylinder turbo engine with 368 lb-ft of torque. All models come with launch control, an active exhaust system, and an eight-speed transmission with paddle shifters. The 3.0 and 3.0 Premium models also include an active rear differential for improved cornering. For a whole heap of style on top, the A91-CF Edition trim builds on the 3.0 trim features with carbon fiber detailing, black and red leather sports seats, and more.
3. Connected to the road
It's not just the 2022 Supra's engineering that makes it such a great choice if you love to feel a connection with the road. Inside, you'll find a wealth of technology that adds to the driving experience. The 3.0 Premium trim is the most well-equipped, with 14-way heated power-adjustable sports seats and a full-color heads-up display. The Technology Package on 2.0 and 3.0 models adds extras such as wireless Apple CarPlay® connectivity and dynamic radar cruise control.
4. Driver-assist packages
To make driving easier, all 2022 Toyota GR Supra models come with a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering assist, and automatic high beams. The available Technology Package (2.0 and 3.0 models) and the Driver Assist Package (3.0 Premium and A91-CF edition) offer some great additional convenience features including adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and parking sensors. These all make driving around town and in highway traffic a breeze — even though you'll no doubt want to be out on the open road.
5. Four good-looking trims
From the matte black folding mirrors (3.0 trim and up) to the standard black leather-trimmed sports seats to the carbon-fiber duckbill spoiler on the A91-CF Edition, the 2022 Supra is a great-looking sports car. You've got some classic colors to choose from including black, white, silver, and gray, but look out for the brighter shades too. Renaissance Red 2.0 stands out without being too showy while Nitro Yellow goes all out. If you want something that's ultra cool without being over the top, go for Phantom — a classy matte gray.
