1. Sleek, eye-catching styling 

Want a practical family sedan that stands out from the crowd? The 2019 Volkswagen Arteon has the styling to do exactly that. With its swooping lines, distinctive front grille design, and fastback body shape, this is a car guaranteed to turn heads on the street wherever you go. At first glance, it might not even look like a traditional full-size sedan, with its very hatchback-style roofline and rear-end design. The SEL trim adds full leather upholstery and a sunroof, and heated rear seats and a premium sound system are included in the SEL Premium trim level.

That distinctive swooping roofline on the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon isn't just there for good looks — it's very practical, too. The hatchback body allows for an incredibly spacious trunk, providing 27 cu-ft of cargo volume. That's not only very impressive for a sedan of this type, but also more than enough to swallow up your groceries, suitcases, and other items with ease. Should you need even more cargo space, 60/40 split-folding rear seats are included as standard, meaning you can fold the rear seats flat for extra space. Additionally, the fastback-style rear decklid also includes a large opening hatch for the trunk that makes loading and unloading items from the trunk easier, and the SEL Premium trim includes a hands-free hatch mechanism for extra convenience.  

4. Lengthy feature list 

The 2019 Volkswagen Arteon has a generous spread of features across the three available trim levels, including an impressive amount of equipment available as standard. Those standard features on the base level SE trim include adaptive suspension, an eight-inch touchscreen, and driver convenience technologies like forward collision warning and blind-spot monitoring. For maximum luxury, you'll want the top-line SEL Premium trim, which offers driver-seat massage functions, an automated parking system, three-color ambient interior lighting, a heated steering wheel, seats front and rear, and more.  

5. Available all-wheel-drive 

Outside of the base SE trim, which is front-wheel drive as standard, all 2019 Volkswagen Arteon models come with the VW 4motion^® all-wheel-drive system as standard. Not only does this offer enhanced road holding, particularly on slippery road surfaces, but it also gives the Arteon more exciting and dynamic handling than you might expect from a full-size sedan, particularly in Sport mode. Combined with the sharp steering, the all-wheel-drive system keeps the car planted and stable, even in tight corners, and allows you to enjoy all 268 horsepower from the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
