2014 Volvo S80 review

1. Powerful optional engine 

The 2014 Volvo S80’s optional 3.0L turbocharged inline-six engine in the T6 models delivers 300 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. This power routes through a six-speed automatic transmission and then out to all four wheels via its standard all-wheel-drive system. This results in a surprisingly quick six-second zero-to-60 sprint time in this big sedan.  

2. Great optional driver-assist technology 

When riding in a flagship sedan, comfort comes in many forms, including relaxing from the stresses of other traffic, pedestrians, and more. The S80 helps ease these burdens with standard low-speed automatic emergency braking. However, it really eases the driving experience with a range of optional driver-assist features. These include a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, a blind-spot monitoring system, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection. These features don’t replace attentive driving but can make your daily commute more relaxing.  

3. Comfy front seats 

The 2014 Volvo S80 has a comfortable interior overall, but its front seats really shine. These seats offer plenty of padding and support to keep you comfortable on short and long drives. Plus, they are wrapped in premium leather that adds to the overall upscale feel of this flagship luxury sedan. The rear seats also have just enough legroom to accommodate most adults, but their real benefit is comfort, as they offer ample padding and support — just like the front seats.

As a flagship sedan, you expect the S80 to deliver loads of premium technology. The 2014 Volvo S80 doesn’t disappoint. It comes standard with dual-zone automatic climate control, power front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, Bluetooth^® connectivity, a seven-inch display screen, an eight-speaker audio system, and more. The 2014 S80 truly leaves you craving very little. However, if you need more, the S80’s higher trims are happy to accommodate with a 650-watt premium audio system, auxiliary audio inputs, the Volvo Sensus infotainment system, navigation, and more.  

5. Timeless looks 

The 2014 Volvo S80 features an upscale and mature outward appearance. While it’s not there to attract stares, this clean design is free from excessive drama that rarely ages well. Instead, it focuses on a smooth, simple, and timeless design that’ll still look great many years from now.
