2013-2014 Trims

The Acura ILX is still a relatively new release and is in its first generation of production, which began in 2012 for the 2013 model year in North America. Throughout its several years of production, however, the ILX has gone through numerous changes and redesigns. Most notably, its trim and package options have changed significantly from the first year of production to today. For the 2014 model year, Acura responded to the demand for more standard equipment by adding 17-inch wheels, a power driver seat, heated front seats, and even leather upholstery as standard features. For the Acura ILX 2015, perhaps the most notable change was that the Acura ILX hybrid version was completely discontinued.

Some new features are also available as add-ons for this model year, including blind-spot monitoring and a multi-view back-up camera.

The Acura ILX 2017 saw no changes from the 2016 model year, but the Acura ILX2018 has a few cosmetic upgrades and new available features(including a "Special Edition" package, which includes a rear spoiler and 18 - inch wheels). In terms of Acura ILXmpg, fuel economy has improved slightly over the years. For example, the 2013 Acura ILX(base trim with 2.0 - liter engine)gets an estimated 29 mpg combined(25 city and 35 highway), compared to the 2018 ILX's 29 mpg combined (25 city and 35 highway) with base trim and 2.4-liter engine.1

Reviews for Acura ILX

Overall Rating

4.3 out of 5 (88 reviews)

I don't understand this question.

I had the same car before my accident except it was a 6 cylinder and this is a 4. I feel no significant difference and am getting about 4 more miles to the gallon. I would also add that my experience with Carmax was excellent. I even got a letter informing me that they had charged me some $200 extra for the tires for which they reimbursed me. From my sales person, Eileen, to all the others that worked with me, there wasn't a wrong move. I would recommend Carmax to anyone looking for a used car.

Pros

  • Fuel Economy: Better than my last one
  • Styling: Pretty car

Cons

  • Interior Space: Would like more trunk room

Very Fun and Comfy Car

This is certainly the nicest car I've owned, after Toyota, Subaru and Volkwagen - all of which were great cars - but this Acura is comfortable, solid, and a very smooth ride. The clutch is effortless and it shifts like a dream. I look forward to my mountainous 40-minute commute every morning and evening. The gas mileage has been a pleasant surprise as well. The computer says we're averaging 29.8 mpg. I don't feel like I'm spending much more on gas than I was with my Volkswagen Golf even though I'm now using mid grade.

Pros

  • Ride and Handling: It's very fun to drive.
  • Braking: Stops on a dime (and before I hit the deer that ran right in front of me)
  • Styling: Nicely refined.

Way more car than you expect! 2012 Volkswagen CC Sport R-Line

This car is a poor man's Audi A6. I've had an Audi, and everything in this car down to the chair adjustments are Audi. So is the engine, and the power I got from my Audi is equal or better in this car. I cannot be more enthusiastic about this car. Also, the R-Line has the two toned upholstery, and it's gorgeous. People stop me all the time and ask me about this car. Also, it's fairly rare in the R-Line version.

Pros

  • Ride and Handling: This drives like a race car, but with the comfort of a living room.
  • Dashboard: My dad says, "You know it's a good car if it has a watch face somewhere on the dash." He's right.
  • Styling: When you're at a red light with a Mercedes, they're looking at you. For the first time in my life, men whistle at me for this car, and my wife is usually with me.

Cons

  • Cabin Noise: A little loud on the road, but not so much as to draw your attention away from the incredible sound system.
  • Visibility: Not that you don't have a nice view with the cabin forward design, it just takes getting used to. Once you are used to it, you love it.
