I bought this model brand new in 2005. It had a unique body style and the powerful V-6 purred. I had priced out an Infinity G-35x with all the bells and whistles after having leased the 2WD drive model, and when I came across the TL, it had every feature INCLUDED for nearly $3500 less! So I got the small spoiler to dress up my Silver w/Gray interior. The car truly made my 2.5 to 3 hr commute each way a dream, with amazing sound system - A comfy, clean, smooth ride, on the dime handling with awesome pep and smart, user friendly dash components. I truly missed this car when I gave it up for an SUV to move out West. I wish they hadn't changed the body style (grille and rear) It truly was unique. By far, the best car I've owned!
This car is sexy! Good acceleration! (fast) Stylish with all the bells and whistles! Lot's of bang for the buck! Down side's. The turn ratio And the gas millage is pretty sad! The leather is unforgiving. And the dashboard is a crack waiting to happen. But over all this one is a keeper!
Great vehicle for years to come
2012 Acura TLPedro Velazquez - San Antonio, TX08/26/2015
While doing research to replace a 2010 Subaru Impreza Wagon 2.5i Premium, I wanted to go back to a 6-cylinder near luxury 4-door sedan. I started my research with the usual suspects: Cadillac, Infiniti, and Lexus. Acura simply did not cross my mind until I test drove the TL. The TL while it doesn't have the horsepower of the G37, the refinements and the torque made the difference for me. While I was test driving the G37 I kept thinking that I was driving a 6-cylinder Altima. It was too cramped on the back seat and it felt too narrow compared to the TL. I know I made a great purchase because this car will last and look good for years to come.
Acura TL Overview
The Acura TL is a midsize luxury sedan that has all of the standard luxury sedan offerings for a lower price than its competitors. The interior cabin is spacious and well-designed with a unique blend of sport, reliability, and horsepower.
Acura TL History
The current, or fourth-generation, Acura TL debuted in 2009. Compared to earlier TLs, the current model has more interior room than the third-generation vehicle. As Acura's midsize sedan offering, the TL has been well-supported throughout each generation with features that leave most luxury shoppers satisfied.
How It Drives
The Acura TL drives comfortably with sophisticated entertainment systems, spacious cabins, and user-friendly features. The vehicle has coordinated handling for any urban driving. Specifically, the front-wheel drive version of the vehicle is more design
and comfort-oriented compared to their competitors like the Nissan Maxima, Lincoln MKZ, or Lexus ES 350. Though the all-wheel drive Acura TL lands in a tougher competitive set of vehicles, it's still respectable on the road and in price range.
Used Acura TL Value
All generations of the vehicle stand the test of time. Though earlier generations may be less exciting than more recent iterations, because each generation had positive reviews any Acura TL should be considered as an affordable midsize sedan that will serve the driver well. If all-out athleticism isn't your priority, this vehicle will be the most valuable selection among competing German midsize sports sedans.
Acura TL Standard Features
All Acura TL's come with powerful 3.5L V6 engines with an available upgrade to 3.7L V6 engines. Additionally, all-wheel drive is available as well, in case front-wheel drive is not preferred. As a luxury midsize sedan, the vehicle prioritizes cabin space and driving experience. Base models are equipped with leather upholstery, stereo speakers, 17-inch wheels, and a sunroof. If you’re conducting used car research to find a deal on pre-owned luxury vehicles, it only makes sense to learn about the Acura TL—a car with touring luxury actually built into its name. The Acura TL is a mid-sized luxury car that succeeded the Acura Vigor and was produced between 1996 and 2014. While the first-generation Acura TL (1996 to 1998) was manufactured in Japan, production soon shifted to the Honda plant in Marysville, Ohio.
The Acura MDX, which entered the market in 2001, was designed to address the need for a high-performance people-mover with an abundance of luxury features.
