The 2017 Acura MDX is praised for its interior space, smooth ride, and quiet cabin, making it a great choice for families. While fuel economy and the navigation system faced criticism, the SUV stands out for reliability, comfort, and overall luxury, appealing to a variety of drivers who prioritize performance and practicality.
it has a decent cargo area
there is a lot of road noise.
I came to the 2018 MDX as a devoted Acura fan. My 2014 RDX was one of the best cars I’ve ever owned — reliable, intuitive, and genuinely enjoyable to drive. I expected the MDX to build on that experience. It didn’t. The technology is the biggest letdown. Acura clearly wanted this to feel like a premium, forward-thinking vehicle, but the execution falls frustratingly short. The adaptive cruise control is unreliable at night, falsely detecting vehicles in adjacent lanes and braking suddenly — even when the road ahead is completely clear. That’s not a minor annoyance; it’s a safety concern. The center display compounds the problem. It’s cluttered, unintuitive, and requires far too much attention to navigate while driving. Adjusting music, climate, or basic settings means taking your eyes off the road longer than any responsible driver should. In a car at this price point, that’s unacceptable. I wanted to love this car. I loved my last one. But after living with the MDX, the most honest thing I can say is that I have a tepid, reluctant dislike for it — and I would not buy it again, even if it were handed to me for free. Acura, you’ve done better. Do better again
