Generation Overview

The 2016 Cadillac CTS was introduced during this sedan's third generation of production, which ran from 2014 through 2019. When this generation debuted, it did so with a 1.2-inch-longer wheelbase than its previous generation, offering a more spacious cabin as a result. The third-generation CTS also saw the introduction of a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder standard engine and turbocharged V6.

By the 2016 model year, start-stop technology was added to all turbocharged engines on the CTS, and an eight-speed automatic transmission became standard. Also standard for the first time on the 2016 CTS is a rearview camera to help you back out of parking spots with confidence.

2016 Cadillac CTS Engine Options

Outfitted on every trim except the V-Sport and V-Sport Premium is a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine at 268 hp. Like every engine on the 2016 CTS, it is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with rear-wheel drive—though all-wheel drive was optional when this sedan was first sold.

Also optional on the Luxury, Performance, and Premium trims was a punchy 3.6L V6 engine at 335 hp; this V6 engine was also available with either rear- or all-wheel drive.

The V-Sport and V-Sport Premium trims are rear-wheel drive only and receive a turbocharged 3.6L V6 at a whopping 420 hp to fuel your need for speed.

2016 Cadillac CTS Interior

The 2016 CTS offers a plush and spacious interior, plus a decently sized 13.7-cubic-foot trunk. A rear-seat pass-through is standard, though the Luxury trim and above receive split-folding seats for added convenience and storage. On the Performance trim and above, your passengers can enjoy manual rear sunshades and a power rear-window sunshade for added privacy and comfort.
