Generation Overview

The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu marks the second year of the eighth-generation model that debuted in 2013. While the 2013 model was impressive in its own right, the 2014 model underwent a number of changes that made it even better. These included a revamped front fascia that not only offered sportier looks, but also a closer resemblance to other recently refreshed models within the Chevrolet lineup. The refresh also gave the 2014 Malibu more rear seat room, improved fuel efficiency and blind spot monitoring as a new standard feature.

For the 2014 model year, the Malibu’s trim levels are broken up into the base LS and 1LT, mid-tier 2LT and 3LT and the top-end LTZ. There’s also a hybrid “Eco” model packing a 2.4L inline-four mated to a mild hybrid system for better efficiency. The LS comes comfortably equipped with Bluetooth® connectivity, cloth seating and two-way power height adjustment for the front seats. The 1LT adds on a seven-inch touchscreen display with available SiriusXM® satellite radio and Bluetooth audio streaming, along with premium cloth seats and ambient lighting.4

The 2LT and 3LT trims give you dual-zone climate control, remote vehicle start, an eight-way power driver’s seat and larger 18-inch alloy wheels.2 Stepping up to the LTZ opens the door to leather upholstery with vinyl accents, heated front seats, LED taillamps and dual bright exhaust tips as notable features.

A standard 2.5L four-cylinder engine provides acceptable motivation for the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu. The optional 2.0L turbocharged inline-four, available as an option on the 3LT and standard on the LTZ, gives the midsize sedan a more athletic feel thanks to its 259 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Both engines utilize a six-speed automatic transmission for smooth and efficient performance.

2Remote start functionality may require the purchase of a subscription plan and/or a compatible device like a smart phone. See the owner’s manual or manufacturer website for more information.

Fit and finish ranks high in comparison to 4 previous purchases.'s just plain old fun to drive, easy to handle and a quick as you need it to be for a 4cyl.
