Generation Overview

The Ford Edge made its debut for the 2007 model year amid high consumer demand for midsize crossover vehicles. Around this time, shoppers were starting to see the benefits of owning a crossover, including additional utility and space when compared to many family-friendly sedans.

When the Ford Edge was introduced in 2007, it boasted spacious front and rear seats. It was also built with the same mechanics as the popular Mazda CX-9, although its wheelbase measured 14 inches shorter and features two-row seating rather than three rows.

By the 2014 model year, the Edge offered a number of tech features, including an optional navigation system, a rear-seat entertainment system, and available remote start.2

2014 Ford Edge Engine Options

A 3.5L V6 engine at 285 hp is standard on the 2014 Edge's SE, SEL, and Limited trims. This engine is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission and is available in both front- and all-wheel drive configurations.

Optional on these trims is a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine, which puts out 240 hp and comes with the same six-speed automatic transmission. This engine is offered exclusively with front-wheel drive.

The 2014 Edge Sport trim gets a 3.7L V6 engine good for 305 hp, plus a six-speed automatic transmission and either front- or all-wheel drive.

2014 Ford Edge Interior

This midsize crossover was designed with clever storage space in mind, offering a full 32 cubic feet of cargo space behind its second row. By folding the standard 60/40 split seats down, you can maximize cargo storage at up to 69 cubic feet. On SEL trims and above, "EasyFold" second rows make extending storage space a breeze.

Inside the cabin, front- and rear-seat passengers will enjoy plenty of space—and the rear seats even offer a reclining feature for added comfort.

2Remote start functionality may require the purchase of a subscription plan and/or a compatible device like a smart phone. See the owner’s manual or manufacturer website for more information.
