Generation Overview

The 2016 Ford Edge is a part of the model's second generation (2015-2019) and is a spacious, attractive, and capable midsize SUV. Fully redesigned for the 2015-year model, the second-generation Ford Edge saw a number of exciting updates, including new engine options, a redesigned exterior, and new standard and available features. For the 2016 model specifically, a SYNC® 3 infotainment system was made available.

The 2016 Ford Edge comes in four different trim configurations - SE, SEL, Titanium, and Sport. While the SE trim is the base trim of the 2016 Ford Edge, it still offers a number of impressive features, including features such as push-button start, a rearview camera, automatic headlights, and a six-speaker audio system. The SEL trim of the 2016 Ford Edge, meanwhile, adds features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, a 10-way power driver's seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and more.

If you are in the market for an upscale and feature-rich midsize SUV, the Titanium and Sport trims of the 2016 Ford Edge are both well worth considering. Each of these trims adds a number of premium features to SEL trim's standard features. The Titanium trim, for example, includes everything found on the SEL trim as well as leather seats, heated front seats, driver's seat memory, a 12-speaker premium audio system, and more. The Sport trim, meanwhile, includes everything found on the SEL trim as well as a hands-free power liftgate, leather seats, an eight-inch touchscreen display, ambient interior lighting, and more.

The SE, SEL, and Titanium trims of the 2016 Ford Edge all come standard with a 245 hp 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while the Sport trim of the 2016 Ford Edge comes standard with a 315 hp turbocharged V6 engine. In addition to these two engine options, though, a 280 hp 3.5L V6 engine is also an available option. When you combine these impressive engine options with the 2016 Ford Edge's spacious interior and generous list of standard features, the result is a well-rounded, attractive, and fun-to-drive vehicle that presents a compelling option for anyone looking to purchase a used midsize SUV.

Ford Edge Is A Winner

The Ford Edge is a great SUV, at a good price, with excellent gas mileage. The 2.0 liter Ecoboost engine has more than enough power for city as well as highway driving. The Ford Sync system is a plus for phone connection, and usb media.

Pros

  • Fuel Economy: Good Mileage 29 mph on highway
  • Cargo Space: Plenty of cargo space in the rear.
  • Styling: The new body style is sleek, with the 2016 edge longer than the first generation.

2016 Ford Edge

Great wheels! Love the ride, economy, and styling. The only thing that could be improved is for the upgrade to allow Apple's Car Play to work for all 2016 as it does for later model years.

Pros

  • Styling: Modern, european influence.
  • Visibility: Very open to all sides with clear eyesight view.
  • Value: Has enough features to compete with higher priced vehicles in my opinion.

Cons

  • Technology and Entertainment: Wish this model year had included Apple's Car Play feature. Otherwise, very good.
