Generation Overview

The 2017 Ford Edge is part of the model's second generation of production (2015-2020). When this generation launched, it boasted a wheelbase that is 3.9 inches longer than its previous generation's, which results in a more spacious cabin and more legroom for back-seat passengers. The second-generation Edge also received an all-new turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder as its standard engine, as well as a new turbocharged 2.7L V6 on the Sport trim.

Ford Edge Engine Options

The 2017 Edge (and all second-generation Edge models) comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine at 245 hp; this engine can be had with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, much like the optional 3.5L V6 engine at 280 hp that is available on the SEL and Titanium trims.

The Sport trim and the ST trim (which was introduced for the 2019 model year) both receive a standard turbocharged 2.7L V6 engine at 315 hp. This engine is offered exclusively with all-wheel drive.

Ford Edge Storage Space

The second-generation Ford Edge boasts ample cabin and cargo space for luggage, groceries, sports gear, and more. Great SUV, Better Value

With a pretty spacious interior and excellent gas mileage for a mid-size SUV, this has been a wonderful vehicle to own. I downsized from an F150 and was really worried about roominess. Although not as large it hasn’t disappointed with my needs. Ride is smooth and the 4 cylinder turbo is fun to drive. I have a SEL with AWD so many comforts along with all weather capabilities. Overall I couldn’t be happier.

  • Ride and Handling: Handles corners and road great
  • Fuel Economy: Impressive for Mid-Size
  • Value: A lot of features for the pricing

  • Technology and Entertainment: No Nav or 4G LTE on an SEL?

- Jon A, 2017 Ford Edge

Satisfied with my Ford

I was in an accident where I was broad sided. That occurrence is why I chose an SUV to feel safer. I love the safety and driver assistance features which include blind spot feature, automatic emergency braking, rear camera and rear parking sensors. I love the fuel economy and handling. My children love the roomy cabin. I can’t say enough of my Ford Edge.

  • Fuel Economy: Saves me money
  • Interior Space: Roominess
  • Braking: Makes me feel safe

Great Value

Very happy with this car. It was a tough decision to purchase another Mercedes SUV or the Ford Edge when I was ready for another vehicle. I rented an Edge on vacation during inclement weather and was pleasantly surprised and I enjoyed driving it. The Edge SEL comes with many options and it’s a great comfortable drive. Just the right size and I need an AWD as well. Handles beautifully and I get many compliments from passengers who own luxury SUV’s. Definitely check this out if I’m the market for a new mid-size SUV. The only thing I wish it had was folding mirrors. I am very happy with this car and hard to find a con with this one .

  • Braking: Excellent braking
  • Cabin Noise: Quiet comfortable ride
  • Fuel Economy: Besides comfort and handling it has good fuel economy.
