It has everything I looked for in a luxury vehicle and is spacious enough for my needs. Dual panel sunroof that can give you a semi panoramic view, power adjusted pedals, true power steering, power lift gate, power 3rd row seats, inflatable 2nd row seat belts, ambient lighting, towing suspension, rear view camera, dual zone, keyless entry, remote start (my favorite feature!), 110 volt outlet, memory settings, navigation.

About the Ford Explorer Platinum

Vehicle Summary

When you need a family-friendly vehicle that's as spacious as it is versatile, a three-row SUV like the Ford Explorer Platinum is a sensible option. This full-size SUV comes standard with seating for up to seven passengers plus a generously sized cargo area. On its 2018 model, for instance, you can enjoy a full 21 cubic feet of storage space behind the third row. And when needed, the Ford Explorer Platinum’s second and third rows can be folded down for additional storage.

While the Ford Explorer is well equipped even on its base trim, check out a used Explorer Platinum model if you're ready to indulge in some finer features. Specifically, the Explorer's range-topping Platinum trim made its debut for the 2016 model year, during this SUV's fifth generation of production (2011-2019). Offering a turbocharged V6 engine and standard all-wheel drive, this trim is the way to go if you want to enjoy creature comforts and conveniences like adaptive cruise control, leather upholstery, and more across every model year.

When it comes to three-row SUVs, the Explorer Platinum is one of the most generously equipped you're likely to find without delving all the way into the luxury-SUV category. Check out a used model for yourself to see how this full-size SUV can suit your lifestyle and driving needs.

Ford Explorer Platinum Popular Features

When the Platinum trim was introduced as the Explorer's range-topping trim in 2016, it offered a wide range of features that included a dual-panel sunroof and premium leather upholstery for a sophisticated feel inside the cabin. For this model year, a premium Sony® sound system also comes standard, delivering crisp and robust sound to every corner of the expansive cabin. Meanwhile, driver-assistance features like adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitoring system, and lane-departure warning/intervention enhance your driving experience. The 2016 Explorer Platinum even has an automatic parking system for both perpendicular and parallel spots, so navigating tight parking spaces doesn't have to be a chore.

Later models of the Explorer Platinum tack on even more features, although a turbocharged V6 engine and all-wheel-drive system remains consistent. On the 2019 model, for example, the Platinum trim retains its automated parking abilities and premium sound system while adding equipment like a panoramic sunroof, standard Apple CarPlay®/Android Auto, eight-inch touchscreen display, and power-adjustable pedals for a more comfortable and personalized drive.

Great Vehicle

This is a great vehicle and I cannot believe they are no longer manufatured. This is the Explorer Sport. A fine 2 door SUV. I pulled a 20' Pontoon boat (about 2500 pounds) from Shreaveport LA to San Diego, out of overdrive with no problem with orerheating or lack o power. I still use this vehicle to pull it to various lakes without any problem. I purchased it used from a Ford dealer and found after puchase it had been repainted over 3/4's of the body, new windshield and some right side glass, ID Vin No on door painted over and right rear plastic trim repaired with body putty. Carfax was only able to tell me the title history of the vehicle, not one mention of why all the repairs. Thank Goodness it turned out to be a good unit!

Another Great Car

This is my second Explorer and I love this truck. It handles great and has plenty of room for the kids and the gear. I highly recommend this american staple.
