About the 2014 Nissan Sentra

Vehicle Summary

The 2014 Nissan Sentra is a stylish compact car that’s also fun to drive. The Sentra’s capable handling and composed ride makes it an ideal choice for short commutes and the occasional long road trip. The base S trim’s standard six-speed manual transmission lets you get the most from the zippy 1.8L four-cylinder engine, while other trims feature a capable CVT as standard equipment. When equipped with the CVT, the 2014 Nissan Sentra gets an EPA-estimated 33 mpg combined.1 Available features like hands-free Bluetooth® connectivity, rearview camera, push button ignition and a power-sliding and power-tilting glass moonroof add several touches of luxury.

Generation Overview

The seventh-generation Nissan Sentra, also known as the “B17” Sentra, debuted for the 2013 model year with a major redesign resulting in a softer, more aerodynamic body, a significantly revamped interior and a small reduction in curb weight. Nevertheless, there’s always room for improvement and the 2014 Sentra features minor suspension and transmission tweaks for smoother performance. Motivation for the 2014 Nissan Sentra comes from a sole powerplant: the 1.8L four-cylinder engine, rated at 130 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque.

You’ll find six trims in total for the 2014 Nissan Sentra, starting with the S and SV trims. The former gives you power windows and door locks, while the latter ups the ante with features like premium cloth seats and attractive electroluminescent gauges. These trims also come available in the fuel-efficient “FE+” form. The SR trim adds a rear spoiler, lower body cladding and a distinctive sport front fascia and grille. The SL focuses on luxury by adding leather-trimmed seats, available navigation, push-button start and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Comfortable Sedan at a Great Value!

This car is perfect for me. I'm your standard mid-30s office worker, commute in from the suburbs to the city center every day, with some business trips that I need my car for and some pleasure trips throughout the year. It might not come with the flash of things like Bluetooth or satellite radio (though you can get those things on certain trims, it just didn't come with mine), but it is extremely comfortable and much more spacious than you'd ever think it would be. The car is attractive inside and out, and it is an extremely nice ride. When I bought this, I planned on going with a sportier car like a Nissan Fit or a Ford Focus, but I realize now that a comfortable, spacious interior and a nice smooth ride is much more important.

  • Ride and Handling: Smooth CVT and very responsive braking.
  • Interior Space: So much size inside, comfortably seats everyone.
  • Fuel Economy: Even without using the eco button, I get great mileage (averaging almost 40 mpg since purchase).

  • Technology and Entertainment: Short on technology like Bluetooth.

Great Deal, Great Car

Economical, quick, long-lasting car. Nothing bad to say about it. Plus, here's the kicker: CarMax uses a standard mark-up from what they paid for their vehicles. So if they get it underpriced at an auction, that low price-tag at CarMax isn't too good to be true. And with the guarantees they include, you know you're not getting a lemon. I got a fantastic deal on this Sentra, and I've been entirely pleased with it.

Bumpy ride, other than that . love the car

Very nice car , i actually really like it. Push to start & very spacious even though it may not look like it from the outside of the vehicle. Reggie was my salesman on Capital Blvd & he was awesome, communicated very well & made my experience and visit very enjoyable! I will definitely be recommending him to others.

  • Fuel Economy: Great gas mileage
  • Styling: Push to start, has sport & eco option
  • Cargo Space: Very spacious on the inside

  • Seat Comfort: Very thick thighs so my hips start to hurt from rubbing against the seat belt buckle
  • Cabin Noise: Bumpy ride, hear alot of bumps and rattle
