Great mpg's with convenience of complete electric
2012 Toyota Prius Plug In HybridChristopher Kouri - Charlotte, NC08/31/2016
The Prius Plug in has all the fuel efficiency benefits of the traditional Prius with the added benefit of an all electric option. The all electric range is only around 10.5 miles, so short trips close to home are best way to benefit with this feature. Longer trips will benefit from the electric/hybrid mix.
Better than standard Prius at less cost
2014 Toyota Prius Plug In HybridMatt Fitzgerald - River falls, WI01/18/2017
Toyota did a terrible job marketing this great car. Drives the same as a regular Prius, but if you choose to plug it in, you get extra MPG during standard driving. I commute 4 miles to my workplace, and in warm weather I could literally get there and back on electrical only. It will drive 11-13 miles on electric only, if you don't put the gas pedal down hard. I plug it into my standard garage electric outlet (3 hours to charge), but could cut that time in half if I upgraded my outlet to 220. Winter driving cuts MPG because the car needs a warm engine to generate heat for the heater...and seat warmers will cut MPG a little too. In warm weather, with plugging the car in, I'm averaging 61MPG. Heater, seat warmers bring it down to 40MPG.
