I've love VW Beetles since they first hit the scene again in 1998 and right after high school I was able to purchase a 2003 and fell in love with it. Once the 2012-2014 were released I knew I had to have it, I love my new car it looks good on the road and makes me feel good when I'm rolling with the sunroof back! I have a metallic reef blue color, very pretty!

We bought a 2001 Beetle with 1.8L Turbo in the spring of 2004. Since then, it has been in the shop at least four times. Twice for various engine sensors ($200-300 bill each time) once for a failed water pump and timing belt at only 50k miles ($700 bill) and now for a broken seat and arm-rest. Also, the black paint is peeling on the hood (we're not going to bother repairing cosmetic issues). Also, the headlights seem to burn out with great frequency and the tape deck doesn't quite work right. So for a car with only 60k miles on it, I am disappointed at how quickly it is wearing-out.
Performance wise it handles very well and has a lot of pep off the line. I was pleasantly surprised at the "driveability" of this "economy" car. The leather interior is of excellent quality and the heated seats are a nice luxury to have in the winter.
In all, I have mixed feelings. I enjoy driving this car but the quality of the plastic and electronic items is poor. I would advise others against buying one for this reason.
Nothing compares to the feeling of the wind whipping your hair back as you cruise in a well-built convertible. Well, almost nothing—the feeling of getting a great deal on your vehicle purchase is definitely a close second. You can enjoy both of these awesome sensations at the same time by selecting a high-quality convertible that sells for less than $20,000.
