FAQ

Is Volkswagen Still Making the Volkswagen Beetle?

The original Volkswagen Beetle was designed all the way back in the 1930s. In 1998, however, Volkswagen began offering a new, updated version of the Volkswagen Beetle. Volkswagen recently announced that they will stop producing the Beetle in 2019.

Is the Volkswagen Beetle a German Car?

The Volkswagen Beetle for the US market is no longer manufactured in Germany. Instead, models made for sale in the North American market are manufactured at Volkswagen's factory in Mexico. The Volkswagen Beetle still features the famed German engineering that it and all Volkswagen models are renowned for.

Answer to my prayer

I had a VW bug in 1974. Always wanted another one. I am a flower child and my memories of those day never went away. When I started looking for a manual VW bug, it took me a while to find. When I did it has everything I had back then and so much more. CarMax made the whole process completely and fun. Great gas mileage, fun to drive a shift again. Even put eyelashes on her. Everything I prayer for and more. No cons at all

Pros

  • Ride and Handling: It has a turbo engine and handles in and out of traffic amazing
  • Fuel Economy: Gas mileage is great for living in the Atlanta
  • Reliability: So far so good. Came to me in great condition

Cons

  • Interior Space: back a little small

This is the best car I have ever owned!

This is a dream car come true!! It rides great, can rarely feel bumps in the road!! It gets great gas mileage. You would be amazed at how much room is actually in this car! The driver's seat is actually very comfy!! The passenger side seats my 6'0 250 lb spouse with no problem and plenty of room and my 10 year old can ride comfortably in the back seat! We were actually surprised by this!! Also, how adorable is a red hot bug?!

Pros

  • Cabin Noise: so quiet!
  • Value: great price!!
  • Fuel Economy: I drive 250 miles and still have over 1/4 tank when i get to my destination!

Cons

  • Visibility: side view mirrors are difficult and if you are trying to look past the passenger window to see if the road is clear it's difficult.

Awesome car

I have previously owned a beetle. I couldn't see myself getting another car. I love the way the beetle had a distinguished look compared to other cars. They come in such fun colors. I had a metallic Grey one. Now I own a baby blue. It feels like a luxury car inside. I have the one with the leather seats, sunroof, touch screen stereo, and push start. It also has a lot of room. I love my beetle. The beetle fits my day to day activities pretty well. I go to school in it. I have enough room for groceries. You can even drop the back seats to get more room if you need. Overall awesome car.

Pros

  • Technology and Entertainment: It has all what you need.
  • Cost to Maintain: The oil is not the regular one. It takes the full synthetic.
