The 2015 Volkswagen GTI is praised for strong power delivery, agile handling, and impressive fuel economy, making it fun to drive and practical. Reviewers highlighted the high maintenance costs and seat comfort as drawbacks. Reliability received mixed feedback, with one notable issue reported. Overall, the car is lauded for its balance of performance and utility.
This car does everything well and is a ton of fun to drive.I've had it for four months and I still get a huge grin on my face when I drive it. You can easily gobble up miles in comfort on the freeway with it's super supportive seats and great infotainment system, or you can kick in sport mode and carve up a twisty road. I smoked several BMW's and a Cooper S on some back roads right after I got this and the car didn't even break a sweat. The Fender sound system is excellent and the integrations with your phone mean you never have to take your eyes off the road. My only complaint is the low-profile tires. This is the first car I've had with them, and it's super easy to curb your rims if you're not really careful. But well worth it.
It's so easy to drive this car quickly. Takes corners like they aren't even there.
A nice, flat torque cruve means you can pull hard from almost any speed
When you fold down the rear seats, you have SUV space but you can park in a compact spot
Premium fuel, synthetic oil, low-profile tires. They're all expensive to maintain, so be prepared
I have driven every sport compact made and the GTI tops them all. It's amazingly comfortable for long road trips, at 6'5" I still have plenty of room and a child seat can still fit behind me. The seats are amazing and I have no issues for hours behind the wheel, the seat heaters are great and go all the way up the backrest unlike most Japanese and American cars that just do the seat bottom. Interior quality is seriously Audi quality, light years ahead of others in this class. The best thing by far about the GTI though is the power and handling... this engine is massively underrated by VW, actual power figures verified by me taking a trip to the dyno put this car at around 250HP and 280TQ. at the crank.
Actual Power is around 250HP/280TQ...VW seriously underrates this engine.
Devours corners yet still comfortable enough to keep the wife happy.
One of the safest cars made, would not hesitate putting my family in it. Great crash test results.
VW's simply cost more to maintain, Oil changes, DSG services are pricey.
I enjoy the ride and handling because it's exactly what commentaries said about the GTI
On the highway I get about 36 mpg when I use cruise control.
It has a sporty look to its style
using my own judgement on the throttle can use up more MPG on streets and highways
