Fifth generation Audi A6
Audi completely redesigned the A6 sedan for the 2019 model year. With a new chassis platform, the new A6 also added a mild hybrid system to the standard four-cylinder and available V6 engines. Advanced driver-assistance tech and a new dual-screen infotainment system were also included in the redesign. The new A6 was roomier than past models, with a high-quality interior that focuses on utility and comfort. These updates set the latest-generation A6 apart from older models.
Under the hood, the standard engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with a 48-volt mild hybrid assist. A 3.0-liter V6 with the mild hybrid assist is available on all trims and standard on the top Prestige trim. All A6 models of this generation include Quattro® all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Fourth generation Audi A6
The fourth-generation A6 debuted with a strong supercharged V6 engine, but there were many changes during the six-year production cycle. A new turbocharged four-cylinder engine was also introduced for this generation. Audi’s Quattro® all-wheel-drive system was available but not standard on all A6 models.
Generally speaking, this is an attractive generation for the A6, with reliability and efficiency finally allowing Audi to compete with the more established BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class midsize sedans. The A6 is comfortable and powerful, and when equipped with Quattro® all-wheel drive, it’s as capable as any of the luxury all-wheel-drive vehicles.
