The 2022 Fiat 500X has style and standard all-wheel drive
The 2022 Fiat 500X is a subcompact SUV with some surprising charms. The 500X’s style and personality help it stand out from competitors, and the interior conveys a more upscale feel than most extra-small SUVs. For 2022, the Trekking Plus trim level was discontinued, and its features became available as an options package for the Trekking trim, called the Trekking Value Plus package. That might make shopping for the features you want a bit more confusing, but some in-demand features like all-wheel drive and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ come standard.
While there are a decent number of technology upgrades available, they aren’t as well implemented as we’d like. The touchscreen is small and not particularly easy to use, and the optional driver aids can be a bit sensitive. The 500X offers more than most competitors in terms of style and design, but only average cargo and passenger space.

What We Like
Standard AWD: Not every subcompact SUV offers all-wheel drive, and on those that do it’s usually an added expense. But the Fiat 500X comes standard with AWD in every trim, making it an easy option for people who need that extra traction.
Style and character: Outside and in, the 500X is filled with little touches that make it feel a bit more distinctive than much of its competition. Among its entry-level cohorts, the 500X has a clear sense of personality and fun.
Cabin quality: With soft-touch materials throughout, especially in the higher trim levels, and solid plastics with a variety of textures and finishes, the 500X elevates its otherwise straightforward interior.
What Needs Improvement
Tech usability: The Fiat 500X’s small touchscreen can be frustrating to use, especially with its small text. The available driver aids are also overly sensitive, and their warning sounds can be startling at times, making them less helpful.
