Fourth generation Nissan Murano
After nearly a decade, Nissan has given its comfort-oriented midsize SUV a complete makeover. The most striking aspect is the styling, with this generation Murano certainly a head-turner thanks to its slim headlights, curvaceous fenders, and swooping roofline. While the extroverted design is striking, it does slightly impede on interior space and overall cargo capacity. Gone is the previous 3.5-liter V6 and in its place is a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder coupled to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration is slightly quicker than before, though fuel economy is about equal to the outgoing V6 at an EPA-estimated 23 mpg combined city/highway
. Inside, the cabin has been modernized with dual 12.3-inch displays. While the look is sleek, there is an overreliance on touchscreen inputs and the menus tend to be complicated. To Nissan's credit, standard equipment is generous, with even the base SV trim including wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless smartphone charging, ambient LED interior lighting, and a bevy of driver-assist features.Model highlights

Third generation Nissan Murano
The third-generation Murano continues the theme of offering a slightly more upscale midsize SUV experience without the baggage—or bragging rights—of a luxury label. Introduced for the 2015 model year, the five-seat Murano excelled at delivering a smooth and calming driving experience. Exciting to drive it wasn’t, however. The handling lacked the sharpness found in some direct rivals. To its credit, the 3.5-liter V6 under the hood provided strong acceleration and highway passing power. Interior quality is a highlight, with the trim materials used throughout the cabin attractive and robust. Rear legroom isn’t overly generous, but two adults seated back there will be fine. Cargo capacity is less accommodating, at 32.1 cubic feet of space behind the folding split-configuration second row. That’s not bad, though many competitors provide more space for hauling items. The same holds true for towing capacity; when properly equipped, the Murano can tow a maximum of only 1,500 pounds.
