Used Fiat buying guide
About Fiat
The Italian car manufacturer Fiat was founded in 1899 and is headquartered in Turin, Italy. Over the years, Fiat has produced many iconic vehicles. The Fiat 500, known as the Cinquecento in Italian, dates back to the late 1950s. A new version of the Fiat 500 was launched in 2007, and several variations are still available today. During the 1960s, Fiat introduced the stunning 124 Spider roadster. Production continued until the mid-1980s, and similar to the 500, a modern version was unveiled in 2016. Today, you'll still find both on our lots, now accompanied by larger editions of the 500: the 500L and 500X.

Fiat FAQs
All cars can make good used cars, but there are a few things to consider. Fiat has a RepairPal Reliability Rating of 3.5 out of 5.0, placing 18th out of 32 car brands. While that's not spectacular, it's still above average. What matters most is how well it was maintained. Even a Fiat with higher mileage can be a good purchase if the previous owner(s) took care of scheduled maintenance.
Although Italian cars might not have a strong reputation for durability, modern Fiats are built differently. Fiat's parent company, Stellantis, also manufactures Jeep, Chrysler, and Dodge brands. The Fiat 500 shares its 1.4L engine (across all model years) with the Jeep Renegade and Dodge Dart. Meanwhile, the 124 Spider is produced by Mazda and shares a platform with the MX-5 sports car.
Today, you'll find numerous Fiat 500 options on our lots, with exciting trim levels like the performance-focused Abarth and the convertible 500c. If you require more space, consider the 500L, which offers increased room for passengers and cargo. The Fiat 500X shares similarities with the Jeep Renegade and provides standard all-wheel drive (2019 onward) in a compact form. Lastly, the 124 Spider, derived from the Mazda MX-5, offers thrilling drop-top driving on back roads.
According to RepairPal, the annual maintenance cost of a Fiat is $538. For comparison, Honda averages $428, and Toyota comes in at $441. So your Fiat ownership experience might be a bit more expensive, but it comes with a lot of Italian flair. Also, check out any available maintenance records, which can make all the difference.
The Fiat 500 has a few common issues, such as a fuel odor that may indicate a problem with the fuel injector seals. Additionally, some reports may indicate vibrations in the clutch pedal (manual only) and unusual noises while reversing.
