2023 Kia EV6 is an exciting, futuristic electric vehicle
The 2023 Ka EV6 is in its second year of production and has won all kinds of accolades, including the 2022 European Car of the Year and the 2023 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year awards. For 2023, the only major changes are that Kia has dropped the entry-level Light trim and added a new ultra-powerful GT trim.
Depending on the EV6's battery size and configuration—as a single-motor or dual-motor model—driving range on a full charge can vary from 232 miles up to 310 miles. Fuel economy figures are based on EPA estimates for when vehicle sold as new. Actual mileage will vary based on things like battery age, vehicle condition and history, driving and charging habits, accessory use, and driving conditions. Battery capacity may decrease with time and use. See fueleconomy.gov for more info. However, if you buy the more expensive hot-rod GT model, EPA-estimated range is just 206 miles because there’s a direct trade-off between performance and range.
The main thing to know about the 2023 EV6 is that the interior is futuristic and comfortable, with easy-to-use controls. From the outside, the EV6 looks like an ultra-modern station wagon more than an SUV. It’s low, angular, and sleek. This is an EV that will definitely turn heads.

What We Like
DC fast charging: At a 350-kW charger, Kia says the EV6 will go from 10% to 80% battery capacity in just 18 minutes. That’s more like coffee-break time than a long lunch, and 80% of the extended-range model’s 310 miles is about 250 miles.
Quick performance: The new GT trim offers Tesla-like performance, and even though that means far less range, it’s still exciting. Luckily, the standard models of the EV6 also offer very good acceleration and handling, and you get the range you want.
Attractive styling: The angular look of the EV6 is right up to the minute, and it’s not a big, tall, ungainly box of an SUV. Rather, it’s a spacious long-roof car with a convenient hatchback. Really, it’s the best of both worlds, and there’s a frunk (front trunk).
What Needs Improvement
Range: If you buy the GT version, you know you’re going to get less range, so we won’t worry about that, but if you’re looking at an EV6 with the smaller battery pack and dual-motor all-wheel drive, EPA-estimated range is just 232 miles.
When shopping for the EV6, look for one with the extended-range battery pack and single motor if you value range above all else, or choose the extended-range battery and dual-motor all-wheel drive for a good compromise.Shop with your budget in mind
