First generation Kia Stinger
Introduced for the 2018 model year, the Kia Stinger offers sleek exterior styling paired with a practical and comfortable interior. The midsize grand sport coupe provides four doors and functional seating for five passengers, plus a convenient liftback hatch. Under the hood, the base engine for 2018-2021 was a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder with 255 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and either rear- or all-wheel drive. Kia also offered the Stinger with a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 365 horsepower, paired with the eight-speed automatic transmission and the buyer’s choice of rear- or all-wheel drive.
In 2022, Kia updated the Stinger, adding a new, more powerful 2.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower. Meanwhile, the 3.3-liter V6 got a small power bump to 368 horsepower. The 2022 refreshed Stinger also received a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
For the final two years of production, Kia offered an extensive driver-assistance package as standard equipment, including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot collision avoidance, and lane keeping assistance.
Inside, the Stinger is noted for its simple, effective design while not quite matching its European rivals in comfort or premium materials. However, the rear seat room is excellent, allowing adults to ride comfortably despite its sleek exterior design.
