The 2020 Volvo S90: Equal parts luxury and practicality
BMW and Audi are known for producing luxury sedans with potent performance and the latest technology, while Mercedes-Benz represents classic luxury. These all have their own personalities, but they also have a lot in common. If you want to break free from these well-established brands, you might prefer the 2020 Volvo S90's unique Scandinavian design aesthetic.
For 2020, the S90 underwent a few changes. The previous T5 engine in base models has been discontinued, but a sporty new R-Design trim has been added. Elsewhere, leather upholstery, front parking proximity sensors, and rear cross-traffic warning have been added to the standard features list.
The S90 may not be as sporty as the BMW 5 Series or Audi A6, instead concentrating on comfort, driver aids, and interior refinement to entice more pragmatic clients. That's not to say it's boring or anemic, as the S90 will easily satisfy most drivers. It's simply different in its execution and, as a result, looks and feels a bit more special.

What We Like
Excellent seat comfort: Volvo collaborated with orthopedic specialists to create seats for its entire lineup, and as a result, the seats in the S90 are among the most comfortable in any vehicle, owing to their ergonomic design and various adjustments. Long-distance comfort is all but guaranteed. Heated front seats come standard, while heated rear seats and ventilated front seats can be added as optional extras.
Interior refinement: The interior of the S90 stands out for its sleek Scandinavian aesthetic and premium materials. The luxurious leather upholstery and the attractive open-pore wood trim appeal to both the eyes and the touch. The solid construction of the sedan instills a sense of security, and the Orrefors crystal shift knob adds a touch of elegance.
Driver aids: All S90 models are equipped with frontal collision warning, lane keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, and adaptive cruise control. Additionally, the S90 is remarkable for its underlying engineering that earned it the distinction of being a Top Safety Pick+ in crash tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety .
What Needs Improvement
Bigger wheels affect comfort: While bigger wheels may be visually appealing to some shoppers, they come with a significant disadvantage. The larger wheel diameter means that the tire sidewall is thinner and less able to absorb shocks from bumps in the road. For this reason, we recommend going for either the 18- or 19-inch wheels rather than choosing the optional 20-inch wheels.
