Generation Overview
After taking a hiatus for the 2013 and 2014 model years, the 2015 Colorado marked the debut of the truck's second generation of production (2015-2020). When the 2015 Colorado launched, it boasted a new extended cab option, as well as standard features like a rearview camera and larger touchscreen interface.
Chevrolet Colorado Engine Options
Under the hood, the second-generation Colorado (2015-2020) features a 2.5L four-cylinder engine at 200 hp; this engine is paired to a six-speed manual transmission, although a six-speed automatic is available. Front-wheel drive is also standard, with four-wheel drive optional.
Also optional is a more powerful 3.6L V6 engine at 305-308 hp (varies by model year) and a six-speed automatic transmission. This engine can also be had with either front- or for-wheel drive.
Beginning in 2016, a turbocharged 2.8L four-cylinder diesel engine at 181 hp also became optional on LT and above trims.
Chevrolet Colorado Cab and Bed Sizes
The second-generation Colorado is offered in two cab sizes and two bed lengths to suit your needs. The extended cab can seat up to four passengers, whereas the crew cab accommodates up to five. A five-foot-two-inch and six-foot-two-inch bed are also available.
Some trims are offered only with certain cab or bed configurations. For example, the 2015 Base trim is offered exclusively in the extended cab size, so keep this in mind as you shop.

Traded in after 3 months
Was not able to pull our 17 foot Casita camper in the mountains out west without the transmission slipping all the time even with a towing package. Chevrolet dealership checked it out in Santa Fe and said it was operating correctly.
Pros
- Cargo Space: Had a folding tonneau cover
Cons
- Power: Not sufficient for towing in mountainous Terrain
- Seat Comfort: Too small
- Interior Space: Small
Really a great vehicle at a really great price.
Chevrolet really did a great job redesigning this truck. It rides really nice, is quiet on the highway and handles like a car. Well built, solid and my first American owned car for several years.
Pros
- Cabin Noise: Very quiet for a car
- Dashboard: User friendly
- Interior Space: Very roomy for a mid size truck
