Outstanding fuel economy and great driving dynamics for an AFV. It's very quiet, even when the gas generator kicks in. You'll only hear the tire noise, and a little wind. In sport mode, this thing really has some guts. The only true con that I've found is rear seat headroom. This may be a factor if your rear passengers are over 6 foot. Rear leg room is fine with two 6-footers front and back. There's a lot of information you can pull from the infotainment system and instruments, so take some time to play with it an learn all the functionality. It's quite easy to use once you know how to navigate the menus. This car is the perfect combo for most people who will use this as their only car.
This extremely economical Volt is also fun to drive. I have competed and even won in auto-cross and road-rally events. It's so versatile and has averaged over 165 mpg during my ownership over the last year and 15,000 miles. I find myself always answering questions about the car to the amazement of others that had no idea of this cars capabilities. I regularly exceed 1,000 miles between fill ups and usually go for months between gas stops. There are many free charging stations all around making it even more appealing!
The Volt is a really nice car almost worthy of a different badge (In other words, not Chevrolet) because nothing about it feels cheap. Yet at the same time, the price on the used market is very reasonable. And the best part about it is not going to the gas station. I've had this car for 6 months and I've only filled it up 1 time. Going to the gas station is simply no longer part of my weekly routine. I leave the house each morning with a full charge. Since it has a gasoline range extender, there is a no compromise with this car. I can drive it across country just like any other car as long as I don't mind putting gasoline in it like every one else.
