The Volt is a really nice car almost worthy of a different badge (In other words, not Chevrolet) because nothing about it feels cheap. Yet at the same time, the price on the used market is very reasonable. And the best part about it is not going to the gas station. I've had this car for 6 months and I've only filled it up 1 time. Going to the gas station is simply no longer part of my weekly routine. I leave the house each morning with a full charge. Since it has a gasoline range extender, there is a no compromise with this car. I can drive it across country just like any other car as long as I don't mind putting gasoline in it like every one else.
So far i have got over 400 M.P.G. Great handling, Quiet, comfort, style, Plus it saves me over $150.00 per month in fuel prices. That is less than a penny a mile. Love it. I owned my own Body shop for more than 40 yrs. I have owned many muscle car's, luxury cars. collector auto's. over 200 autos and trucks., But I like my Volt the best.....After driving it and getting in another auto. No comparison.
Loved the "idea' of this car, but was skeptical. We decided to take the dive. Bought it in April of '15 with 50k miles on it. Wanted to put it to the test right away. We drove round trip CT to TX. Impressed! Averaged about 35 MPG on gas the whole trip. Surprisingly comfortable trip for 2 adults & 2 kids. At first, it felt a little weird to be the only Volt on the road. Then, we began to feel pretty cool about it! We have Solar Panels at home, so it's like "charging for free". There is a wealth of info available online about the car. Don't be fooled by naysayers. This is a great car IF it fits your lifestyle. I live 12 miles from work, which leaves me plenty of charge to get around on without mid day charging.
