About The 2018 Ford Expedition

Vehicle Summary

The Ford Expedition is a large SUV that appeals to you if you're a driver who needs plenty of space along with rugged aesthetics. The Expedition comes standard with three rows of seating, which means it can hold 7–8 passengers depending on the configuration of the second row. All of the seats are roomy enough for adults, with more than 40 inches of legroom in the second row and 36 inches of legroom in the third.

If you need even more space, the Expedition Max is a foot longer than the standard Expedition, bringing additional space to the cabin.

Even with all that passenger space, the Expedition has plenty of room for your gear, with 20.9 cubic feet of cargo space (and more than 100 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down). In addition, the Expedition's towing capacity is an estimated 9,300 pounds with the standard 3.5L EcoBoost and a Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, when properly equipped.1 The heavy duty tow package is available only on the standard Expedition, not on the Max.

The Ford Expedition was fully redesigned in 2018. That year, Ford introduced 10-speed automatic transmission and a twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 375–400 horsepower (depending on the trim). Despite the more powerful engine, fuel economy increased with the redesign. The base-level XLT 2018 Expedition with a 375 horsepower, two-wheel drive engine gets an EPA-estimated 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.2 The Expedition comes with standard rear-wheel drive, though four-wheel drive is available as an option on all trim levels.

The appeal of the Ford Expedition isn't just its size and performance. The Expedition offers an upscale interior, with standard features including a 4.2-inch display screen for Ford's SYNC ® connectivity system, Bluetooth®, and four USB ports. The 2018 redesign also introduced optional features including blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, and automatic braking.

1 Various factors may impact towing capacity, including weight of passengers, cargo, and options/accessories.

2 Fuel economy figures are based on EPA estimates when vehicles sold as new. Fuel economy may vary for reasons like driving conditions and vehicle history. Unless specified, figures are for vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission. See for details.

Fantastic Kid and Trailer Hauler

It has great towing capability and is very luxurious.

  • Interior Space: the interior is beautiful
  • Power: the turbo engine is plenty . works really good.

- Jon H, 2018 Ford Expedition

Awesome 6-cylinder turbo engine. No problems climbing hills or cruising at 80 mph under 2,000 RPM. Lots of space. Not as appointed or finely finished as other comparable full-size SUVs, but makes up for the lack of refinement in performance.
