2016 Ford Fusion Overview

True to its name, the 2016 Ford Fusion is a well-rounded vehicle with strengths in style, capability, and comfort. The Fusion remains one of the more impressive midsize sedans in the market in a highly-competitive class.

2016 Ford Fusion History

The 2016 Ford Fusion is no fresh entry in terms of design. The generation has been on the market for about four years, without too many tweaks or design edits, but remains one of the more stylish midsize sedans on the market.

  • The Ford Fusion was first introduced in 2006.
  • It received a design refresh in 2010.
  • The 2016 Ford Fusion is a part of the second generation vehicles, introduced for the 2013 model year.
  • The Fusion Hybrid is available in its base form and as a plug-in model.

How It Drives

No matter the engine, the Fusion truly is a top-notch midsize sedan in terms of ride and handling. The steering feels precise, firm over rough patches of road, and not too stiff. Cornering feels controlled and stable. From the driver's seat, the dashboard and center console are elegant and functional. Thanks to turbocharged engines, speed demons will enjoy plenty of acceleration and power.

Used 2016 Ford Fusion Value

The Ford Fusion is graceful. It has good looks, drives smoothly, and has high-quality upholstery. With space-efficient design, the Fusion also has an impressive interior. Compared to other midsize sedans, this car is the most graceful of the bunch; it drives and handles well, and higher-trim levels add plenty of performance to the Fusion package. As far as price is concerned, the Fusion nets you luxury car features for below-premium prices. It has a lot of optional upgrades, but the base model should be well-equipped enough for most drivers.

Powertrain & Engine

In all of its versions, the Fusion stands out against the other midsize sedans. Appearance-wise, Ford has a Terra Cotta interior package available for higher trim levels models. This package adds reddish leather to the seats and door panels. For 2016, a new S Appearance Package lets you dress it up a bit more with 18-inch wheels painted black, front fog lamps, and a rear spoiler.

The Fusion is remarkably fuel efficient, even with one of the turbocharged four-cylinder engines under the hood. The base engine in the S and SE gets 22 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. The Fusion Hybrid is also available, alongside its plug-in version, the Fusion Energi - both earn a whopping 40 mpg.

Standard and Hybrid models of the Ford Fusion are offered in S, SE, and Titanium trim levels:

  • The Ford Fusion S is already well-equipped, with a lot of the features modern car buyers have come to expect.
  • Both the SE and Titanium have access to the 2.0 turbocharged four-cylinder line of engines.

Body Style & Interior Comfort

In terms of pure aesthetics, the 2016 Fusion's silhouette leads its segment. Its profile is attractive, though the design hasn't been changed much since its last redesign. The Fusion is sure to stand out in a sea of midsize sedans.

On the inside, the materials are handsome and quite comfortable. It has a high-quality interior, with upscale upholstery and noise dampening. It's packed with technology that modern consumers have come to expect.

Each trim level differs a bit in features:

  • The Fusion S includes full power accessories, Bluetooth audio streaming, a capless fuel filler, telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, and audio controls in the steering wheel.
  • The Fusion SE adds satellite radio and additional speakers.
  • At the top of the lineup is the Fusion Titanium, which includes bigger wheels, leather upholstery, built-in navigation, remote start, reverse parking sensors, and lane warnings.
