Vehicle Summary

Are you searching for an efficient sedan that has all the space your busy family needs? The 2016 Ford Fusion not only features seating for five in its roomy cabin, it is also able to earn an EPA-estimated 36 mpg highway with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine, automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive.1 The split rear seat folds down when you want to bring home an oversized collection of shopping bags, sports gear, or home improvement supplies. The SelectShift® transmission leaves control in your hands as you put the pedal down and attack the corners. The 2016 Fusion SE uses available all-wheel drive to power through snowy mornings or over rain-soaked roads with extra confidence as your sedan maintains traction. Bluetooth® technology ensures that you can stay in sync while leaving your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

Generation Overview

The 2016 Ford Fusion is part of the second generation of this sedan that debuted for model year 2013. Built for the hard-working commuter, it uses front-wheel drive, a six-speed automatic transmission, and independent rear suspension to deliver a comfortable ride for a family of up to five. The trunk on the gas model provides 16 cubic feet of luggage space, with 12 and 8.2 cubic feet appearing in the hybrid and plug-in hybrid, respectively. Three gas engine options start with the 175 hp 2.5L, step up to 181 hp on the 1.5L EcoBoost with auto start/stop technology, and 240 hp for the 2.0L turbocharged version when you are hunting for a sportier ride.2

There are three versions of the 2016 Ford Fusion, starting with the gas model that is highlighted by three trims including the S with cloth manual seats, air conditioning, 16-inch aluminum wheels, and cruise control. Get to work enjoying added comforts in the SE with power front seats, rear heating/air-conditioning ducts, heated side mirrors, and a code-based keyless entry system. The Titanium wraps you in leather-trimmed seats, driver memory, ambient lighting, and automatic climate control while a rear deck spoiler and dual exhaust delivers an athletic appearance. The Hybrid uses the same names for its three trims, but the S begins with automatic temperature control, the SE adds EcoCloth® upholstery, and the Titanium provides a 110-volt power outlet. The plug-in Fusion Energi starts at the SE level using driver memory, the 110-v outlet, and approach lighting. The Energi Titanium goes all out using aluminum pedals, a rear deck lid, and a 12-speaker Sony® surround sound system.

Should you be hunting for blind spot detection or automatic parking, there is an extensive catalog of optional packages like the Driver Assist Package with BLIS®, automatic high beams, and rain-sensing wipers. Add-ons to the SE Technology Package include adaptive cruise control, collision warning, and active parking assistance. Navigation is available as part of the subscription-based SiriusXM® satellite radio with Traffic and Travel Link®.3

Reviews for 2016 Ford Fusion

Overall Rating

4.4 out of 5 (31 reviews)

Recommendation declined.

I would not recommend this car. I had a 2011 Fusion 3.2 liter. The 2016 performance is lacking compared to the 2011. Coming from a 3.2L to 2.5 eco boost was something I should not have done. The eco boost does have a little get up but can’t compare to the 3.2l. The vehicle also has issues in the drive train (axle) which I think should have been detected prior to sale. If considering purchase, take it to get checked out within your 7 day window.

Pros

  • Dashboard: All controls are easily accessible
  • Interior Space: Interior cabin has decent space for backseat passengers
  • Technology and Entertainment: I love the navigational system.

Cons

  • Cabin Noise: Every so often i hear a crackling sound from the front window. It sounds like dust particles or glass cracking but no indication of damage.
  • Cost to Maintain: Have had car under 6 months and already requires axle replacement The hub assembly was replaced when first purchased.
  • Power: The 2.5l engine does not have much power and the engine is louder than most engines.

206 fusion

there’s not too much wrong with the car but it wasn’t properly maintenance for sale- bad tires and some engine issues broken back up camera and radio went out in 1 week stained seats- they “cleaned” them but as soon as they dried, all the spots plus more came back. the salesman was very nice but I wouldn’t recommend buying here

Pros

  • Styling: it’s a sleek design
  • Cabin Noise: quiet while inside

Cons

  • Braking: shakes and pulls since day one

Problem with onboard computer

The overall comfort of the vehicle is great. I really enjoy where things are located. Sound muffling is pretty good and the Bluetooth functionality is supreme in terms of audio quality both incoming and outgoing. Massive PROBLEM with the onboard computer disabling the vehicle if you leave it in accessory mode for more than a few minutes. This has twice had the effect of disabling the vehicle requiring a fake jump start to reengage whatever circuit gets tripped.

Pros

  • Cabin Noise: Sufficient silencing while still allowing to hear sirens and emergencies
  • Seat Comfort: The seats that I have are heated but beyond that they provide lumbar support which is important for my back.
  • Ride and Handling: Its a fairly smooth ride

Cons

  • Reliability: When the battery sensor in the car trips "to protect the battery" the car disables sync, won't start, lights flash on and off internally and sometimes externally. Taking the car to a shop to test the battery its at full voltage and at full charge. This has happened a few times in less than a couple months. THIS is infuriating. The ONLY solution so far has been to have another car "jump" my car... somehow the over voltage reengages the circuit... This is a MASSIVE design flaw.
  • Technology and Entertainment: Depending on the year you get your vehicle you may find that you have no options for enhanced services through sync or whatever service is being used. Updates and install is not available in a 2016 and if you want navigation you can forget it.
