Q: How much horsepower does the 2014 Ford Mustang have?

A: The 2014 Ford Mustang has two different engines, the same as the 2013 model, which deliver different amounts of hp. The baseline 3.7L V6 engine provides 305 HP, while the 5.0L V8 GT version delivers a power output of 420 HP. The Shelby GT500 model adds a 5.8L V8 engine delivering an astounding 663 HP for superior performance whether you're on the street or on the racetrack.

Q: How fast does a 2014 Ford Mustang accelerate?

A: The 2014's different packages and engines make a difference in how quickly the Ford Mustangs of this year accelerate from zero to 60. The baseline 3.7L V6 engine reaches this speed at 6.8 seconds, with the addition of the performance package's limited-slip rear differential bringing this time down to 5.7 seconds. The change to the 5.0L V8 manual transmission version brings the Mustang's speed down to 4.7 seconds, while the GT500 Shelby's 5.8L V8 slims the time down to 4.0 seconds.

Q: Does the 2014 Ford Mustang have speed limiters?

A: Though mechanical governors have gone the way of the past for most vehicles, digital computer controls limit the top speed of the 2014 Mustang. However, this control can be altered through changes to your computer programming. It will require an experienced ECU programmer to update your system's specifications and programming, referred to as chipping.

Q: What's new on the 2014 Ford Mustang?

A: Though the 2014 Ford Mustang, as the last model year in the fifth generation, it didn't see many changes. However, as many vehicles in the last year of a generation, it has the best features for that generation along with having all the outstanding deficits and issues having been sorted out. This makes it an exceptional value, even if it hasn't seen a lot of other changes from prior model years.

Q: What's the best option package in a 2014 Ford Mustang?

A: As with any vehicle, the best package for you is going to depend on your goals. If you're looking for a more efficient vehicle, one of the premium V6 Mustangs is a great option to consider. However, if you're simply looking for the best possible options and features in a solid vehicle, the top-of-the-line Shelby GT500 provides leather-trimmed, heated front sport seats, a Base Shaker™ audio system and Le Mans racing stripes fits the bill.

Generation Overview

Including model years from 2005-2014, the Ford Mustang's fifth generation was introduced at the 2004 North American International Auto Show. Reflecting the fast-back styles of the late-1960s Mustangs, it provided an excellent progression from the fourth generation's nod to mid-1960s Mustangs. The generation saw a facelift in 2011 and an engine changes in 2010, which were revised again in 2011. The 2012 model year saw a new Boss 302 version and an early 2013 model year update, changes which were kept until the sixth generation was started in production with the 2015 model year.

Terrific convertible with enough space for passenger's in the back

I love convertibles. I needed one for my two kids to sit in the back, and this has one of the larger back seats. Kids love it top down. Handling is very good. Bucket seats in the back is great - but only seats 4.

Value: price, reliability, service. Looked at a lot of convertibles. This was one of the few that had headroom I wanted. The rear quarter panels would not drain water (debris clogging the weep holes). Car was covered under factory warranty. Dealer told me to stuff myself; they weren't going to fix it. CARMAX service took care of everything . . . no problem.
