2014 Honda Pilot

Vehicle Summary

Whether you're hauling tools and equipment for your business, your camper for a weekend in the great outdoors, or basketball players to their next game, the 2014 Honda Pilot provides plenty of room for a midsize SUV and a lot of power to get you where you're going. For all of that power and capability, the Pilot gets good fuel efficiency, with an EPA estimate of 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway for the standard front-wheel drive version or 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway for the available four-wheel drive version.1 A wide range of thoughtful features include plentiful power ports to keep everyone entertained for the long haul, available heated side mirrors, available heated front seats, three-zone automatic climate control, acoustic windshield and available SiriusXM® satellite radio.2

Q: Is the 2014 Honda Pilot a four-wheel drive?

A: The 2014 Honda Pilot comes standard with front-wheel drive, but has available four-wheel drive in all trim levels with a Variable Torque Management® system to help keep power going where it's needed, rather than simply spinning sliding tires. This makes it a great option for getting around in bad weather and rough terrain.

Q: How many people can the 2014 Honda Pilot seat?

A: With a spacious interior and third-row seat, the 2014 Honda Pilot can seat up to eight passengers very comfortably. Many reviewers have mentioned that the third row in the Pilot is more comfortable than it is in many of its class competitors, especially given the ease of entry provided by the second-row sliding seats.

Q: What are some popular features of the 2014 Honda Pilot?

A: Available in four different trim levels, the 2014 Honda Pilot has a wide range of standard and available features. Some standard features include privacy glass, hill start assist, tire pressure monitoring system and illuminated steering-wheel controls for audio, cruise and phone. Available features include memory-linked side mirrors, DVD rear entertainment system, integrated second-row sunshades and one-touch power moonroof with tilt.

Q: How much can the 2014 Honda Pilot haul?

A: When properly equipped, the 2014 Honda Pilot is capable of towing up to 4,500 pounds, making it a great option for hauling your small camper, trailer or toy hauler.3 With all three rows of seats in place, you have 18 cubic feet of storage space, which expands to 47.7 cubic feet of cargo space with the third-row seats folded and 87 cubic feet of cargo space with both the second- and third-row seats folded.

3Various factors may impact towing capacity, including weight of passengers, cargo, and options/accessories.

Generation Overview

Revealed as a prototype vehicle at the 2008 North American International Auto Show, the second generation of the Honda Pilot was larger than the first generation, with more aggressive styling. Offered with a 3.5L V6 engine producing 250 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque, it was offered in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive powertrains, both of which used a five-speed automatic transmission. It included a range of new features, including two-position driver's seat memory, power tailgate, 120-volt interior power supply and a satellite-linked Honda navigation system.2 The 2011 model year saw the entertainment system option on the Touring trim become standard for that trim and voice-activated navigation was offered on the EX-L trim. The 2012 model saw a facelift with new front fascia, updated wheels and interior updates, while the 2013 model included a standard backup camera, central dashboard eight-inch LCD screen, USB connector, Bluetooth® connectivity and three-zone automatic climate control.
