5 reasons to buy the 2014 Acura ILX
1. Sporty engine option
While the 2014 ILX’s base engine and hybrid powertrain options aren’t tuned for performance, the available 2.4L four-cylinder engine can deliver the goods. Borrowed from the Honda Civic Si, this four-cylinder engine delivers 201 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque through a standard six-speed manual transmission. This offers more spirited acceleration and the joy of having full control of the vehicle through its manual gearbox.
2. Ride and handling combined
Just because the 2014 ILX is a luxury vehicle doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice performance for ride comfort. This compact sedan does a great job striking a balance between a soft and forgiving ride and delivering stable cornering on a windy road. On top of a great ride, the 2014 ILX’s construction and chassis help keep the cabin peaceful, even in rough driving conditions.
3. Thrifty hybrid variant
Do you prefer thrifty performance with your luxury? The 2014 Acura ILX also offers a hybrid version that combines a 1.5L four-cylinder engine with a hybrid electric system. This setup pushes 111 hp to the front wheels via a CVT. It’s far from the quickest compact luxury sedan, but its shining star is fuel economy, which checks in at an EPA-estimated 38 mpg city, 38 mpg highway, and 38 mpg combined.
4. Plenty of upscale features
The 2014 ILX is well-equipped from its base trim and includes features you’ll love, including Bluetooth® connectivity, a rearview camera, push-button start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and more. If you want extra features, check out the Premium Package, which adds leather seating, an eight-way power driver's seat, a premium audio system, and more. Look out for the Technology Package too, which adds a premium audio system with a USB port, streaming audio, navigation with voice recognition, and real-time traffic and weather information.
5. Youthful styling
The 2014 Acura ILX may share a platform with the Honda Civic, but its body doesn’t show it. This compact luxury sedan will surely please you with its sharp body lines, low and wide proportions, long hood, and striking character lines. Inside, the ILX continues this youthful look and feel with a layered design with varying textures.
