5 reasons to buy the 2015 Acura RLX
1. Base engine is potent and frugal
There’s just one engine available under the hood of the 2015 Acura RLX, and it’s ideally suited for day-to-day commuting and cruising. It’s a 3.5L V6, with a stout 310 horsepower and 272 lb-ft of torque, and paired to a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive. That’s more than enough power for zipping from stoplight to stoplight in the city as well as longer distance freeway journeys, and you won’t even need to make many trips to the pumps in the process — this engine and drivetrain combination can achieve an EPA-estimated 30 mpg on the highway.
2. Roomy and well-equipped cabin
Midsize is far from the word to describe the spacious cabin you’ll find inside the 2015 RLX. You get seating for up to five passengers, and generous legroom, with 42.3 inches in the front seats and 38.8 inches in the rear. You also get plenty of creature comforts to help you and your passengers relax and soak up the miles with ease. These include a sunroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats with four-way power lumbar support, and leatherette upholstery all provided as standard.
3. Lengthy list of standard features
On the topic of standard features, you may be looking at the extended feature list for the 2015 Acura RLX and wondering where the separate trim levels are. Simple, there aren’t any! That means a lot of the features listed actually come as standard, and are supplemented instead by various option packages. For example, upgraded leather upholstery and noise-reducing acoustic glass can be found in the Technology package, with heated front and rear seats included in the Advance package.
4. Technology in abundance
If you love your technology, there’s a lot to like about the 2015 Acura RLX. Amongst the aforementioned standard features is a ten-speaker ELS® sound system with a USB interface and smartphone app integration. Models with the available Navigation package include an upgraded climate control system which uses a GPS receiver to automatically adjust the cabin temperature based on which side of the car is exposed to direct sunlight - pretty cool, huh? There’s also a blind-spot monitoring system and an upgraded 14-speaker sound system included in the Technology package. Need more? There's adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and forward collision mitigation bundled in the Advance package.
5. Useful trunk space
For when you need to pick up the groceries or take luggage with you on an overnight trip, the 2015 Acura RLX has you covered. Despite the vast passenger space, you still get a useful 15.3 cu-ft of luggage volume in the trunk. That should be enough for most requirements, but should you need a little extra for carrying items like skis, there is also a center pass-through opening in the rear seats.
