2024 Cadillac CT4 is sporty but compromised

Cadillac's smallest car, the 2024 CT4, is a performance-focused luxury sedan. This smaller sibling of the CT5 comes in a variety of flavors, including two turbocharged engine choices, several trims, and a choice of rear-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive.

Cadillac made most driver aids standard in 2022, in addition to wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. But adaptive cruise control is still not standard, unlike on many rival vehicles. Super Cruise, General Motors' hands-free driving system, is available on the Premium Luxury trim and above.

While it may be Cadillac's entry-level sedan, the CT4 can’t quite keep up with the Mercedes-Benz CLA, BMW 2 Series, or Audi A3. The CT4 delivers speedy acceleration, but its ride is stiff and bumpy. The interior also uses too much low-quality plastic for the CT4 to compete with more luxurious rivals.

What We Like

  • Engines: The CT4 has plenty of power and can access it in a hurry. The CT4 can go from 0 to 60 mph in just five seconds with the upgraded engine. The base engine doesn't boast as much raw power, but its fuel economy is impressive.

  • Tech: Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity is standard, but if you prefer to use the CT4's standard touchscreen, it's easy to use. Cadillac’s excellent built-in navigation system is optional.  

  • Fuel economy: The CT4 gets an EPA-estimated 24 mpg in combined city/highway driving, which is solid for a vehicle with its equipment and in its class.  

What Needs Improvement 

  • Comfort: A stiff ride ensures you'll feel most of the bumps and divots the road throws at you, which is jarring in a luxury sedan. The interior is also a bit cramped, especially in the back seat. And the lack of a premium feel makes the entire experience less pleasant.
