Used Cadillac buying guide
About Cadillac
Since 1902, Cadillac has focused on building luxurious vehicles with innovative firsts wrapped in forward-looking designs. In 1909, it was purchased by General Motors to become the brand's luxury division. The current lineup of SUVs and sedans nods to Cadillac's heritage while offering a long list of modern conveniences. Since its introduction, the Escalate has set the bar for luxury full-size SUVs, while the CT and XT models blend luxury with everyday innovations. Today’s Cadillacs are stylish and roomy — some even have self-driving technology. Cadillac has both electric and gas-powered sedans and SUVs in its lineup.

Cadillac FAQs
If you are looking for a luxury vehicle with heritage or you are a fan of the Cadillac brand, it’s worth looking for a model that fits your needs. Cadillac is a familiar brand with a wide range of used models available, meaning it's easy to find the model that suits your needs and budget.
The best model year to buy a second-hand Cadillac depends on what features or technology are important to you. Many driver assists are available in models such as the 2004 XLR and later. More modern vehicles, such as the 2024 Escalade have available high-tech features such as automated parking and cruise control.
While looking for a second-hand vehicle with lower mileage is typically good advice, that doesn’t tell the whole story. In addition to mileage, be sure to consider maintenance and age. Read more about what to look for in our mileage vs maintenance article.
You can find both SUVs and sedans from Cadillac. The Escalade is a full-size SUV with a frame similar to a pickup, while the XTR is a crossover-style SUV. The Cadillac CT family of sedans ranges from everyday commuter models to sport-tuned luxury.
Some of the most iconic names in the Cadillac family are from the 1970s. These include the Cadillac Seville, Eldorado, DeVille, and Fleetwood. While you might find classic examples of these models, you're more likely to find newer models (2013 onward) available used.
