Second generation Ford Edge
The second and final generation of the Ford Edge featured an evolving technology story and three engine options. Base trims included a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, with a 3.5-liter V6 as an option. The Edge Sport featured a more powerful 2.7-liter turbocharged V6. Edge models could be equipped with a six-, seven-, or eight-speed automatic transmission, depending on trim. In earlier years, front-wheel drive was standard and all-wheel drive available, but from 2022 to the end of production, AWD was standard.
Inside, the Edge was always known for a more spacious and luxurious cabin than the more family-oriented Ford Explorer or the more economical Ford Escape. The second-generation Edge offered increased interior room compared to the preceding generation, along with features like a rear-view camera system and LED lighting.
A mid-cycle face-lift for the 2019 model year brought the Edge up to date with Ford’s latest exterior design cues, and added an optional Bang & Olufsen® audio system.

First generation Ford Edge
The first-generation Ford Edge was a popular two-row midsize crossover, especially following the 2011 model year mid-cycle updates. This refresh gave the Edge new bodywork and new capacitive-touch buttons inside. The post-refresh Edge also received the Ford SYNC® 2 voice control system.
Engine options for 2011 and later Edge models included a 3.5-liter V6 and a 3.7-liter V6, with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder added in 2012. All were paired with automatic transmissions and front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Trim levels included the base SE trim with cloth upholstery and the SEL trim with dual-zone climate control, cruise control, and a power driver’s seat. The luxurious Limited trim included leather seat upholstery, heated front seats, Sony HD audio system, eight-inch touchscreen infotainment, and a rear-view camera system. The top Sport trim included the 3.7-liter V6 engine (starting in 2011), paddle-shifted automatic transmission, two-tone leather upholstery, and exterior sport bodywork.
