The 2022 Genesis GV70 is an all-new small luxury SUV that enters a crowded and highly competitive field. Direct rivals include the Acura RDX, BMW X3, Lincoln Corsair, Mercedes-Benz GLB, and Volvo XC60. Available with a choice of turbocharged four-cylinder or a turbocharged V6 engine, every GV70 comes standard with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Acceleration with either engine is impressive, though it’s the V6 that really scoots the GV70 down the road with authority. Unfortunately, fuel mileage is not exactly a bragging point. In the plus column, the GV70 comes loaded with comfort, tech, and driver-assist features. It also has a roomy cabin that looks every bit like a premium vehicle. The infotainment system has clear menus and quick response times, though it’s worth noting the touchscreen requires quite a reach for the driver.

Acceleration: The 300-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder that’s standard is absolutely fine and has no problem motivating the GV70. However, the strong acceleration and added passing power of the 375-hp turbo V6 are pretty addictive. That, combined with a supple ride and precise steering, makes the GV70 a driving delight.
Standard feature content: Sometimes even luxury vehicles make you climb to higher trims and add pricey option packages to get many sought-after features. Not so the GV70. It comes standard with a wide array of comfort items and tech touches, not to mention many driver aids like blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning.
Interior space: Genesis did an excellent job crafting a world-class cabin filled with high-quality trim. Better still, there’s plenty of stretch-out space in both rows. Cargo volume is equally good, with approximately 28 cubic feet of room behind the folding split rear seatback.
Fuel economy: Yes, we love the performance of the turbo V6. But we wouldn’t mind a few extra mpg either. Opting for the GV70’s more powerful engine means more frequent pit stops to refuel. The turbo-four is better, though still only about average for this size of SUV.
The 2022 Genesis GV70 is available in multiple trims, each with its own estimated fuel economy, here are the EPA estimates for each trim:
