The Infiniti QX50 is a feature-packed choice among small luxury SUVs
The 2022 Infiniti QX50 is a five-seat compact luxury SUV that comes with many strong rivals, like the BMW X3, Lincoln Corsair, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Volvo S60. To its credit, as Infiniti’s smallest and least expensive SUV, the QX50 makes a case for itself as a solid value. All trims are motivated by a 268-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder mated to a continuously variable automatic and choice of front- or all-wheel drive. The latter is standard on the range-topping Autograph trim.
On the road, the QX50 performs fine but doesn’t really stand out against its rivals. The ride quality can be bumpier than you expect from a luxury SUV, and the automatic transmission has distracting habits during routine driving that detract from the driving refinement. For the 2022 model year, wireless Apple CarPlay® is standard, as is ProPilot Assist, a partially automated highway driving aid.

What We Like
Interior comfort: The QX50 has supportive front- and second-row seating with adult-friendly levels of space. Getting in and out of this Infiniti is also easy due to its not-too-big and not-too-small dimensions.
Standard features: Infiniti gives a boost to the QX50’s argument for being a value-conscious choice by loading in many standard features. In terms of driver aids, these include blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, and ProPilot Assist.
Cargo room: People love SUVs for many reasons, and one of the main ones is often cargo capacity. The QX50 has plenty of space for long vacations or bag-intensive errands. There is also a reasonable number of cubbies and storage nooks in the cabin.
What Needs Improvement
Infotainment system: The dual-screen infotainment system is well behind the times. It’s difficult to navigate, the graphics are behind the times, and the lower screen is largely redundant.
