The 2017 Range Rover Sport continues many of the traditions of its predecessors, including luxurious interiors, compelling exterior designs, and outstanding off-road performance. This model year introduced new features, such as an expanded set of driver-assist features, including driver drowsiness and traffic sign recognition, intelligent speed limiting, and autonomous emergency braking. 

This Range Rover’s off-road capabilities and electronic suspension offer increased traction control in challenging road conditions, including mud, grass, sand, snow, and gravel. Low-traction launch functionality enables this SUV to pull away smoothly and confidently from a complete stop despite low friction.

What is new for the 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Sport?

  • The Range Rover Sport is available in a new trim called the HSE Dynamic.
  • The Dynamic Limited Edition and HST Limited Edition trims have been discontinued for 2017.
  • Range Rover Sport trims have been upgraded with Lane Departure Warning, Rear Air Conditioning, Third Row Seat, Bluetooth Technology, and CD Audio as standard equipment this year.
  • Power Folding Third Row and Seat Massagers features are now available as options on select trims.
  • The Autobiography trim now comes with Panoramic Sunroof as standard equipment.

1. Popular features now come standard 

All Range Rover Sport trim levels were newly equipped with lane departure warning, rear air conditioning, third-row seating, Bluetooth® smartphone integration, and CD player as standard equipment this model year. The Meridian™ audio system as a standard feature is a welcome addition you will enjoy if you prioritize high-fidelity sound for your traveling soundtrack.  

2. A range of engine options 

Would you want a supercharged 550-hp V8 engine to transport a full load of seven people or a torqued-up 254-hp turbodiesel V6 to decrease fuel consumption? Or would a 380-hp supercharged V6 meet your power needs? The 2017 Range Rover is available with five engine options so you can choose the one that meets your needs.  

3. Enhanced connectivity and infotainment capabilities 

Land Rover added an available Wi-Fi hotspot to the 2017 Range Rover Sport and a stable internet connection for up to eight devices. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity expanded this vehicle’s infotainment offerings and added an optional, richly-featured, high-definition, 10.2-inch InControl® screen with voice recognition.   

4. Refreshed exterior design 

The 2017 Range Rover received subtle tweaks, including a revised grille, alloy wheel sculpts, and expanded color options. If parking an SUV of this size seems tricky, the self-parking function and surround-view camera system should ease your hesitation.  A new touch-free power gesture tailgate opens with a proximity key and doesn't require you to reach for your key fob.   

5. Off-road features 

The Land Rover Sport’s adjustable vehicle height and extended wheelbase keep the vehicle clear of rough terrain. The Terrain Response® and active differential features work together to give Range Rover drivers confidence and control, ensuring a smooth and safe driving experience—whether on or off the road. All Terrain Progress Control enables drivers to set a moderate speed up to 18 mph and maintain it until the vehicle is on more stable footing. You must purchase a Supercharged trim-equipped Land Rover sport for this option, but it’s worth the investment if you plan to take your SUV off the beaten path.
