The 2023 Lexus NX 450h+ combines luxury and fuel economy
The 2023 Lexus NX 450h+ returns unchanged for its second year of production. The plug-in hybrid SUV offers an EPA-estimated 37 miles on electric-only power and an EPA-estimated 35 mpg when your electric charge runs out. Both of those numbers are impressive compared to its plug-in hybrid competition. Fuel economy figures are based on EPA estimates for when vehicle sold as new. Actual mileage will vary based on things like battery age, vehicle condition and history, driving and charging habits, accessory use, and driving conditions. Battery capacity may decrease with time and use. See fueleconomy.gov for more info.
You also get a roomy, comfortable cabin with seating for five. The interior is suitably luxurious and, when it's driving using electricity, the NX 450h+ offers a quiet ride. It's also fleet of foot by SUV standards, going from 0 to 60 mph in under 7 seconds, making merging onto the highway or passing slow traffic a snap.
Storage in the NX 450h+ is less impressive and falls behind other SUVs of similar size. And while the NX 450h+ delivers solid acceleration, it's not as fun to drive as similarly sized SUVs from Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. From behind the wheel, it feels more like a large SUV, making it a bit clunky when turning sharply, as in a parking lot or small neighborhoods.

What We Like
Impressive fuel economy: The NX 450h+ handily beats its rivals when it comes to all-electric range. Most of the competition can't surpass 30 miles, let alone the EPA-estimated 37 miles the Lexus delivers. Once you run out of charge, you can still get 35 mpg, according to the EPA
, which is quite impressive.Great interior: The Lexus is comfortable, particularly in the front seats. Long road trips in this SUV are comfortable thanks to well-padded and cushioned seats. The interior is also pleasantly stylish and features quality materials.
Solid technology: The NX 450h+ comes with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ as standard features and its 14-inch touchscreen is easy to use. Driver aids like adaptive cruise control and blind-spot warning also come standard.
What Needs Improvement
Storage: The NX lags behind the competition when it comes to rear storage. It offers 22.7 cubic feet of storage behind the rear seats, which is off the pace set by rivals like Genesis. The GV70 delivers more than 28 cubic feet of storage.
