The 2022 Mini Cooper Clubman is a fun blend of hatchback and SUV
Modern Mini Cooper hatchbacks are compact little powerhouses that thrill drivers with performance and charm observers with their delightfully perky personalities. Their tiny footprints make them incredibly agile but can also make them somewhat impractical. To solve this, Mini offers the Cooper Clubman. It’s essentially the same from the front seats forward as the smaller hardtops, but it measures 9.2 inches longer from nose to tail. The extra length allows for more passenger space and cargo capacity.
For 2022, the Clubman remains the same mechanically but receives several technology upgrades. These include a larger standard infotainment touchscreen, lane departure warning, and satellite radio. Midrange Signature trims also add navigation and Apple CarPlay®. Otherwise, the 2022 Mini Cooper Clubman returns in the same funky-cool form that has made it a hit among shoppers looking for a little uniqueness.

What We Like
Sharp cornering abilities: Among hatchbacks, Minis are some of the most entertaining behind the wheel and the Clubman is no different. Its handling abilities are impressive and even more so with the John Cooper Works (JCW) model. Spirited drivers owe it to themselves to see how fun a Clubman can be.
Premium interior: The Clubman’s interior is not only a treat for the eyes, but it’s also well built, using nicer materials than what you’d get in other hatchbacks. The retro styling cues are a definite nod to classic Minis, from the round gauges to the chunky toggle switches. Touchpoints are well cushioned and other elements feature sturdy plastics.
Charming personality: It’s difficult to think of a vehicle with more personality than a Mini. It blends its charming past with modern sensibilities, allowing it to stand out from almost anything else on the road. Owners can further personalize their Clubman to their heart’s content with styling flourishes from Mini or aftermarket suppliers.
What Needs Improvement
John Cooper Works version lacks comfort: With excellent handling abilities, the Mini Cooper Clubman may tempt spirited drivers into stepping up to the sharper JCW model, but we suggest sticking with the standard Cooper Clubman S. The ride quality in the JCW is simply too harsh, and there are no appreciable gains in cornering prowess unless you’re on a racetrack.
