2020 Volvo XC40 review

1. Lots of storage space

The 2020 Volvo XC40 is a subcompact SUV, but it has ample storage space that's comparable to that of some larger SUVs. The Volvo XC40 offers 20.7 cu-ft of cargo room in the trunk, which increases to 47.2 cu-ft with the rear seats folded down. In addition to the generous overall cargo volume, there are a couple of handy small-item storage options and various useful features, such as bag hooks on the glove box and a little trash bin in the center console.

2. Refined and roomy interior

The 2020 Volvo XC40 can seat up to five people in supportive and comfortable seats, lined with cloth and synthetic upholstery. Visibility for the driver is excellent, and blind spots are reduced to a minimum thanks to large windows in the back. Front legroom measures 40.9 inches, with second-row passengers getting 36.1 inches—plenty of room even for adults on a short drive. Headroom in the front seats measures 39 inches, and 39.1 inches for passengers in the back seat.

The base engine on the 2020 Volvo XC40 is a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder with 187 hp and front-wheel drive, while the available option is a 2.0L four-cylinder that delivers 248 hp with all-wheel drive. They're both paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, offering peppy acceleration and a dynamic, nimble driving experience.

4. High level of connectivity

The connectivity on the 2020 Volvo XC40 is impressive. The XC40 comes standard with Volvo's Sensus Connect infotainment system, which includes a nine-inch touchscreen that's positioned vertically, really drawing the eye to the center of the cabin.
