5 reasons to buy the 2016 Ford Escape
1. Cargo capacity
The five-passenger 2016 Escape only seems compact on the outside; you'll find that the interior is made for hauling people and gear. Even with the second row in place, you'll have 34.3 cu-ft of cargo space available for tailgating or trekking with a full crew. You can max that out to 67.8 cu-ft with the rear seats folded, and Ford offered an optional hands-free foot-activated liftgate in case your hands are full. The 2016 Escape has the interior versatility to tackle your active lifestyle.
2. Wide range of engines
Take a look at the 2016 Escape and you'll find a variety of engine options to fit your needs. The S trim gets a standard 2.5L engine (also available on the SE) making 168 horsepower and getting an EPA-estimated 25 mpg combined (FWD only).
Move up to the SE and Titanium and you'll find a turbocharged 1.6L with 178 hp that gets an EPA-estimated 26 mpg combined with FWD (25 mpg with AWD). Looking for more power, check out the optional turbo 2.0L that ups the power to 240 hp (SE and Titanium). It still gets an EPA-estimated 25 mpg combined with FWD and 23 mpg combined when equipped with AWD.3. Weekend versatility
Other than the base S trim, all 2016 Escape trim levels can be found with Ford's optional all-wheel-drive system. So, whether you are off to the ski slopes or down to your favorite out-of-the-way campsite, the Escape has got your back. Also, if you opt for the 2.0L engine paired with the Class II Trailer Tow Package your 2016 Escape will tow up to an estimated 3,500 pounds when properly equipped.
That optional tow package includes a handy trailer sway control feature to help keep your weekend on track. Plus, the Escape's standard backup camera can even help you line up the trailer hitch.4. Tech options
All versions of the 2016 Escape have the Ford SYNC® voice-activated system controlled by a 4.2-inch LCD screen. However, look for the updated SYNC 3® system, which comes with an 8-inch color LCD touchscreen and Siri® integration, and is available on the SE and standard on the Titanium trim. The top-spec Titanium also gets a standard Sony® audio system with 10 speakers and HD Radio™ built-in.
5. Comfort upgrades
While the base S is well-equipped, if you want more features, look out for the SE. It has upgraded cloth upholstery as well as upgrades like an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat (with power lumbar), rear privacy glass, foglights, and a keyless entry keypad. There is even an SE Leather Comfort package, which as the name implies adds leather upholstery and heated front seats. The top trim Titanium gets all of that, plus the front passenger seat is also eight-way power-adjustable passenger seat, and you'll also get driver memory settings and more.
