5 reasons to buy the 2017 Ford Escape
1. Versatile engine choices
The 2017 Ford Escape has a choice of three engine options available, meaning that there is almost certainly one that's ideally suited for your needs. S models start off with a 2.5L four-cylinder engine, producing 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque, and paired with a six-speed automatic transmission to achieve an EPA-estimated 24 mpg combined and 29 mpg on the highway.
SE models come equipped with a 1.5L turbocharged engine, with output increasing to 179 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque, and capable of an EPA-estimated 26 mpg combined and 30 mpg on the highway. Finally, optional on SE trims upwards is a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder motor, capable of 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque while still able to achieve an EPA-estimated 25 mpg combined and 29 mpg on the highway.2. Strong selection of standard features
Whatever model of the 2017 Ford Escape you choose, you'll definitely feel like you've got the most possible bang for your buck, as even the standard and base trims offer a wealth of features. The base-level S trim includes features such as a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, a rearview camera, the SYNC® system for smartphone integration, and a six-speaker sound system with Bluetooth® connectivity and a USB port. Just up from that on the more commonly available SE trim, you'll find alloy wheels, a keyless entry keypad, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an eight-way power adjustable driver seat with power lumbar adjustment.
3. Cargo space in abundance
For everything from big grocery shopping trips to family holidays and adventures, the 2017 Ford Escape has the storage capacity to swallow up all the cargo you'll need with ease. The trunk offers a very generous 34.0 cu-ft of luggage volume right off the bat, and should you need more, the 60/40 split-folding rear seats can fold flat to increase that capacity to a whopping 68.0 cu-ft. You also get a foot-operated, hands-free power liftgate on Titanium trims for extra convenience when loading and unloading.
4. Roomy, feature-rich cabin
Alongside the aforementioned cargo volume, there's plenty of room inside the 2017 Ford Escape for passengers too. There's seating for up to five passengers, with 43.1 inches of front legroom and 37.3 inches of rear legroom on offer. Additionally, there's a vast array of creature comforts available, especially on the premium Titanium trim, which includes the Ford SYNC 3 interface with an 8-inch touchscreen display, a 10-speaker Sony sound system, leather upholstery, and ambient interior lighting as standard.
5. Available all-wheel drive
For extra peace of mind when dealing with slippery conditions, the 2017 Ford Escape offers all-wheel drive alongside the standard front-wheel-drive configuration. Available as an option on the SE trim upward, the 2017 Ford Escape's all-wheel-drive platform includes a sophisticated power distribution system, which not only helps with everyday handling but also when the road surface gets slippy and grip is at a premium, such as in wet, icy or snowy weather.
