Generation Overview

Ever since its introduction for the 1967 model year, the Chevrolet Camaro has won over countless pony car and muscle car fans thanks to its combination of sharp styling, excellent handling and impressive power. The 2016 Camaro continues that tradition under the sixth-generation banner, offering a host of improvements over the previous fifth generation. These improvements range from a redesigned chassis offering increased rigidity to a suspension that uses lighter components to reduce unsprung weight. The sixth-generation Camaro’s exterior styling offers an evolutionary take on the previous generation with a refined overall shape and a reworked front fascia.

You’ll find the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro in four trim levels: 1LT, 2LT, 1SS and 2SS. Both LT trims get 18-inch alloy wheels as standard with 20-inch alloys courtesy of the available RS Package. The 1LT comes standard with push button start, keyless entry and OnStar functionality that offers available remote start, turn-by-turn navigation and an available Wi-Fi hotspot when activated.1 The 2LT trim adds dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated leather-trimmed front seats and a nine-speaker Bose® premium audio system to the mix.

The 1SS adds the 6.2L V8 to the 2016 Camaro’s list of impressive performance features, along with a limited-slip differential, four-piston Brembo performance brakes front and rear and high-intensity discharge headlamps along with LED taillamps. The 2SS gives you a color head-up display and two-position driver seat memory for the eight-way power driver’s seat.

The 2016 Camaro’s roster of engines starts with the 2.0L turbocharged inline-four, standard on both LT trims and rated at 275 hp. Next up is the 3.6L V6, optional on the LT trims and rated at 335 hp. If you want V8 power, however, the direct injected 6.2L V8 is the only game in town, available exclusively on the 1SS and 2SS trims. You’ll get 455 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque, making the 2016 Camaro SS quick enough to go from zero to 60 in four seconds flat when equipped with the eight-speed automatic transmission.

The 2016 Camaro’s interior also offers plenty of fun touches, including available interior spectrum lighting that displays up to 24 user-selectable colors and center console HVAC vents that also double as rotating dials for the climate control system.

1OnStar features require activation and most require a paid OnStar plan to use. Wi-Fi hotspot functionality may also require an additional data plan. Limitations and restrictions apply. See for more information.

Get It

It’s a sports car, it a family car. If you have already come to terms with that, and. Your looking for an all American hot rod, this is your ride. Mine is a 2 SS which means 6.2L 8 cylinder with hot rod exhaust. There are other models, I can’t speak for those engines and transmissions but, researching shows no major issues with this model (Camaro 6 gen). The 6.2L is a staple of Chevy Performance built cars, same LT1 block used in the Chevy Corvette. The transmission in my car is manual 6 speed and has no known issues. This car does have a back seat but it is useless. Some may consider that a draw back but if you are looking at sports cars of this caliber, you shouldn’t expect to see the Griswolds packed into one headed to WallyWorld.

  • Power: This car in an SS model is 455HP and will move when needed
  • Ride and Handling: Car rides excellent for such a pure power beast
  • Braking: Awesome. Brembo brakes, stock in the SS models

Great sports car with few issues

Pros: quality modern interior, decently fast and responsive, good road performance with the right tires, comfortable ride, many safety options. Cons: poor gas mileage (17mpg expected with a sports car), non Qi compatible wireless charger that is awkwardly placed. That’s pretty much it. This car is fun to drive and own. Gets many looks with the right color and finish.

  • Power: 455 hp
  • Ride and Handling: Sport tuned suspension with multiple drive modes
  • Technology and Entertainment: Extremely modern interior (2SS) with Apple CarPlay android auto.

  • Cabin Noise: Car is loud but could easily be a pro
  • Cargo Space: Maybe enough for some groceries and a gym bag
  • Visibility: Like a tank from the 1940s but it has many safety sensors all around the vehicle

Love My Car

I love the body style of this car, it has a good amount of power for me and I love all the features like remote start and especially blind spot detection which is def needed in that car. Absolutely would recommend this car but it’s not a family car at all. I also love how you can start your car, lock your doors, and keep up to date with your car status and performance with the app.

  • Styling: Love the body design and led lights
  • Power: Love the different modes you can change to like sports and ice/snow
  • Ride and Handling: Smooth ride and handles very well

  • Interior Space: Not much room to store things
