Generation Overview

The tenth-generation Chevrolet Impala represents a rare breed of vehicle, especially in today’s age of massive midsize and full-size crossovers and SUVs. The Impala name itself hails from a bygone era when big sedans ruled U.S. roads. The 2016 Chevrolet Impala is a modern-day take on the big sedans of old, giving fans that classic big-car ride without skimping on the latest tech features.

While the 2016 Chevrolet Impala no longer offers the burly V8 engines of yore, the full-size sedan’s optional 3.6L V6 engine more than makes up for any perceived performance deficits. The V6 engine produces 305 hp while returning an EPA-estimated 22 mpg combined.2 Meanwhile, the standard 2.5L four-cylinder engine makes 196 hp, but returns improved fuel economy at an EPA-estimated 25 mpg combined.2 Both engines rely on a six-speed automatic transmission for power delivery.

Trim levels for the 2016 Chevrolet Impala include the base LS, mid-tier 1LT and 2LT and the top-tier LTZ. While the LS trim comes well-equipped with remote keyless entry, cruise control and Bluetooth® technology, you’ll find many of the 2016 Impala’s more notable features on higher trims. For instance, availability of the 3.6L V6 is limited to the LTZ trim, along with leather seating, push button start and driver assistance features including lane departure warning and forward collision alert.

2Fuel economy figures are based on EPA estimates for when vehicle sold as new. Fuel economy may vary for reasons like driving conditions and vehicle history. Unless specified, figures are for vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission. See fueleconomy.gov.
