About the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe
Vehicle Summary
Whether you have a growing family or need extra room for gear, the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe offers a roomy solution. The full-size SUV offers a spacious interior that easily accommodates eight passengers with the standard second-row bench seat and seven passengers with the available second-row bucket seats. If you enjoy V8 power, then you’ll find the 5.3L V8 and the 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque it generates to your liking. Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, the powerful motor also comes in handy for taking advantage of the 2016 Tahoe’s 8,600-pound maximum tow rating, when properly equipped.1 Despite its large size and equally large engine, the 2016 Tahoe achieves an EPA-estimated 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway in 2WD guise. 2 Adding 4WD drops the Tahoe’s highway fuel economy by 1 mpg.2 The 2016 Tahoe also comes with a generous list of standard and optional features, including tri-zone automatic climate control, LED taillamps and an eight-inch touchscreen display with Bluetooth® audio streaming. If you’re searching for a spacious and comfortable SUV, the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe is a worthy vehicle to explore.

Generation Overview
The 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe is part of the fourth generation of General Motors’ full-size SUVs, based on the same GMT K2XX platform that underpins the third-generation Chevrolet Silverado. The 2016 Tahoe also shares its styling and mechanicals with the longer Chevrolet Suburban, with the only major difference between the two vehicles is the Suburban’s additional rear cargo space.
You’ll find the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe available in three trims: LS, LT and LTZ. The base LS gives you premium cloth seating with front power controls along with rain-sensing front wipers, convenient assist steps and a capless fuel filler. The LS trim also features the two-speed Autotrac transfer case when equipped with 4WD and an automatic locking rear differential for improved traction.
The mid-level LT adds a nine-speaker Bose® premium sound system and Chevrolet MyLink Radio® with Navigation. The LT trim also opens the door to an assortment of driver-assistance features, including a driver aid feature that uses seat cushion vibrations to deliver certain driver aid alerts.
The top-tier LTZ trim delivers several options you won’t find on any of the lower trims, including the Magnetic Ride Control damping system, power-retractable assist steps and 10-speaker Bose® Centerpoint® surround audio system. All trims come equipped with OnStar and an available built-in Wi-Fi hotspot.3
3 OnStar features require activation and most require a paid OnStar plan to use. Wi-Fi hotspot functionality may also require an additional data plan. Limitations and restrictions apply. See onstar.com for more information.
Safety Rating
The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration's independent crash tests help you make informed decisions about vehicle safety. NHTSA's 5-Star Safety Ratings give consumers insights into how vehicles perform in crash tests, with more stars equaling higher safety ratings. Here are the ratings for the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe. Certain vehicles may have unrepaired safety recalls. Visit nhtsa.gov/recalls to look up a specific vehicle.
