About the 2013 Honda Civic

Vehicle Summary

The 2013 Honda Civic offers a compelling choice if you want an engaging yet sensible daily driver. You can choose between a practical four-door sedan with ample space for five passengers and a sleek two-door coupe that offers plenty of style. You’ll also find plenty of attractive features with each well-equipped trim, including keyless entry, cruise control, hands-free Bluetooth® connectivity and available leather-trimmed seating. If maximizing fuel efficiency is your thing, consider the mileage-minded Civic HF or the advanced Civic Hybrid. However, the LX, EX and EX-L trims are no slouches when it comes to saving fuel, earning an EPA-estimated 31 mpg combined when paired with a five-speed manual transmission and 32 mpg combined with the five-speed automatic transmission1. The Si trim adds a 201-hp 2.4L four-cylinder engine and a close ratio six-speed transmission for more driving excitement. Consider adding the 2013 Honda Civic to your list if you’re looking for an attractive yet efficient compact car that ticks the right boxes.

Generation Overview

The 2013 Honda Civic not only represents the ninth generation of the long-lived nameplate, but this particular model year is a significant refresh of the previous year model. The ninth generation Civic debuted in 2012 to lackluster reviews, prompting Honda to make major improvements inside and out. The end results are significant upgrades in interior materials, ride excellence and handling. You’ll quickly recognize the refreshed 2013 Civic by its revamped front fascia, which does away with the previous year’s three-bar grille in favor of an open honeycomb grille.

The 2013 Honda Civic’s three main trims are the LX, EX and EX-L, all which are powered by a 1.8L four-cylinder engine rated at 140 hp. The LX trim gives you a choice of a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic transmission, while the EX and EX-L feature the latter as standard. The mid-tier EX trim comes nicely equipped with automatic headlights, a one-touch power moonroof and 16-inch alloy wheels, while the EX-L trim adds a leather-upholstered interior with heated front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

If you’re savvy about saving money at the pump, the 2013 Honda Civic also comes available in HF and Hybrid trims. The HF adds a plethora of fuel-saving features, including low-rolling resistance tires fitted on 15-inch lightweight alloy wheels and a rear decklid spoiler. These additions help deliver an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 33 mpg combined.1 The Hybrid trim uses Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist system and a CVT to deliver an EPA-estimated 44 mpg combined.1 The 2013 Honda Civic even comes in a natural gas-powered model.

Available in coupe of sedan form, the 2013 Honda Civic Si offers tantalizing performance thanks to its 201-hp 2.4L four-cylinder engine, close-ratio six-speed manual transmission and sport-tuned suspension. Other performance enhancements include deep-bolstered bucket seats, an aluminum shift knob and aluminum pedals.
